Apple has officially rolled out the iOS 26.3 release candidate (RC) to developers and public beta testers, signalling that the final public release is just around the corner. The RC build is typically identical to the version that reaches all users, unless critical bugs are discovered.
The iOS 26.3 update brings a mix of new features, privacy upgrades, visual changes, and system-level improvements, many of which were spotted throughout the beta cycle. From easier device switching to enhanced notification access for third-party accessories, here’s everything you need to know.
iOS 26.3 Update: What’s New and What to Expect
Easier Transfer From iPhone to Android
Apple is preparing a new iPhone-to-Android transfer tool aimed at simplifying the switch for users moving away from iOS. The feature allows users to place an iPhone near an Android device to initiate the transfer process. Once connected, users can choose to move photos, messages, contacts, notes, apps, passwords, and more.
New Live Weather Wallpapers
The wallpaper gallery has received a visual refresh with a dedicated Weather section. Previously grouped with Astronomy wallpapers, Weather now stands alone and introduces three new live wallpapers. These dynamically change based on real-time weather conditions at the user’s location.
Notification Forwarding for Third-Party Accessories
To comply with upcoming EU regulations, Apple is introducing a new Notification Forwarding option. Located under Settings > Notifications, the feature allows users to forward iPhone alerts to supported third-party accessories. Users can select one external device at a time, balancing accessibility with privacy controls.
Limit Precise Location for Better Privacy
iOS 26.3 adds a “Limit Precise Location” option for iPhones using Apple’s in-house modem, including the iPhone 16e and iPhone Air. This feature reduces the accuracy of location data shared with mobile networks, enhancing privacy. It currently works with select carriers such as Boost Mobile, Telekom, EE, and BT.
RCS End-to-End Encryption
Apple is also working on end-to-end encryption for RCS messages in the Messages app. While Apple has not officially confirmed activation in iOS 26.3, reports suggest groundwork for the feature is being laid.
Subtle App Store Ad Redesign
Sponsored App Store search results may soon look more like organic listings. The blue background traditionally used for ads appears to be removed, potentially making promoted apps less visually distinct.
iOS 26.3 Supported iPhones
The update will be available for the following models:
- iPhone 17 series
- iPhone 16 series
- iPhone 15 series
- iPhone 14 series
- iPhone 13 series
- iPhone 12 series
- iPhone 11 series
- iPhone SE (2nd generation and later)
When Will iOS 26.3 Release?
With the release candidate now live, iOS 26.3 is expected to roll out publicly within days. Eligible iPhone users can look forward to a more polished experience focused on usability, privacy, and ecosystem flexibility.
