Apple’s watchOS 11.4 Update Brings a Game-Changing Alarm Feature and More

Every year, Apple rolls out a slew of major software updates across its ecosystem, introducing fresh features and enhancements to its devices. Last year saw the arrival of iOS 18, iPadOS 18, watchOS 11, and macOS 15 Sequoia, setting the stage for incremental updates that refine the experience further. These follow-up updates often bring significant new features that didn’t make the initial cut, along with essential bug fixes.

This week, Apple released iOS 18.4 and iPadOS 18.4, but one update was conspicuously absent, watchOS 11.4. While it took a little longer to arrive, the wait is now over, and with it comes a handful of enhancements, including one that’s a game-changer for those who struggle to wake up in the morning.

    What’s New in watchOS 11.4?

The highlight of watchOS 11.4 is an improvement to the Sleep Wake Up Alarm. Previously, if your Apple Watch was in Silent Mode, the alarm would only vibrate, which could be an issue if you’re a deep sleeper. Now, with watchOS 11.4, the alarm can override the Silent Mode and ring audibly, ensuring you don’t oversleep. For those who prefer a more discreet wake-up call, the vibration option remains intact, perfect for not disturbing your partner.

Another notable addition is support for Matter-compatible robot vacuum cleaners within the Home app on Apple Watch. This means you can now control your smart vacuum directly from your wrist, just as you can on your iPhone (iOS 18.4) and iPad (iPadOS 18.4). Whether you need to start a quick clean-up before guests arrive or send your vacuum back to its charging dock, it’s now just a tap away.

Beyond these features, watchOS 11.4 includes crucial bug fixes and performance improvements. One fix that many users will appreciate is the resolution of an issue that made watch face selection unresponsive when switching between different faces.

The watchOS 11.4 update is available for Apple Watch models from Series 6 and newer. To install it:

    1. Open the Watch app on your iPhone.
    2. Navigate to General > Software Update.
    3. Ensure your iPhone is updated to iOS 18.4, as it’s required to install watchOS 11.4.

With better alarms, smart home upgrades, and performance enhancements, watchOS 11.4 is a must-have update for Apple Watch users. Whether you’re looking for a more reliable way to wake up or seamless smart home control from your wrist, this update delivers.
