Attero has launched a new partnership with Helium, a direct-to-consumer (D2C) air-conditioning brand, to streamline the appliance exchange process for customers purchasing new air conditioners. This initiative allows customers to trade in their old appliances, such as air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines, or coolers, when buying a new Helium AC.
The new program features the Selsmart calculator available on Helium’s website, enabling customers to assess the exchange value of their old appliance during the purchase process. Once the purchase and exchange request are confirmed, Selsmart coordinates the doorstep pickup and provides instant digital payment based on the agreed exchange value, eliminating concerns about last-minute re-evaluations. The collected appliances will be responsibly recycled at Attero’s CPCB-authorized facility in Roorkee.
This collaboration seeks to broaden Selsmart’s reach by directly integrating its exchange service into Helium’s online sales platform. By doing so, customers can manage both their new AC purchase and old appliance trade-in without needing to visit physical stores. Despite Selsmart’s existing services through its own platform, this partnership enhances customer convenience by embedding the exchange option within Helium’s digital ecosystem.
Nitin Gupta, CEO and Co-founder of Attero, emphasized the importance of providing a structured collection process for end-of-life materials. He stated, “Through Selsmart, we are making the collection of used electronics and appliances more accessible and structured. Our partnership with Helium brings take-back options directly into the online purchase journey, connecting consumer upgrades with formal recycling and material recovery.”
Aman Munka, Co-founder and COO of Helium, highlighted the brand’s objective of creating a seamless customer experience, stating, “Most people don’t know what to do with their old AC once the new one arrives. Through Selsmart, we’re providing our customers with an easy solution: fair exchange value, doorstep pickup, instant digital payment, and responsible recycling.”
Attero is recognized for its advanced recycling technologies that recover over 22 critical minerals from end-of-life electronics and lithium-ion batteries, supported by more than 50 global patents. The company aims to strengthen the supply chain of valuable materials for manufacturing through its innovative recovery processes.
Selsmart complements Attero’s efforts by connecting consumers with organized take-back services, ensuring discarded appliances enter formal recycling channels. Currently, Selsmart operates in over 25 cities across India and has assisted more than 400,000 customers.
