Describe a Scene and Alexa+ Will Take You There on Prime Video: Amazon Unveils Smart Scene Jump Feature

Amazon is taking voice-controlled entertainment to the next level with a powerful new Alexa Plus feature for Fire TV that allows users to jump directly to specific scenes in Prime Video movies simply by describing the moment. The AI-driven tool eliminates the need for manual searching or fast-forwarding, making content discovery faster and more intuitive than ever.

This innovation follows Amazon’s recent testing of AI-generated Video Recaps on Prime Video, aimed at helping viewers quickly catch up on earlier seasons of shows.

How the Alexa+ Scene Jump Feature Works

With the new feature, users can speak naturally to Alexa+ and describe a scene using:

    • Character names
    • Famous quotes
    • Visual moments
    • Key story events

    For example, users can say:

    • “Jump to the card scene in Love Actually”
    • “Jump to the scene in Red One where Santa flies over the city”
    • “Jump to the scene where Deloris Jordan says a shoe is just a shoe until my son steps into it”

Alexa+ then identifies the correct movie and automatically moves playback to the exact timestamp of the requested scene.

Powered by AI, Metadata, and Visual Understanding

    Amazon says the system blends:

    • Visual scene recognition
    • Movie subtitles and captions
    • Prime Video’s X-Ray metadata

to understand characters, plot, dialogue, and action. This enables highly accurate scene detection even with loosely worded voice commands.

The feature is built on Amazon Bedrock and runs on multiple large language models, including Amazon Nova and Anthropic Claude, making it one of the most advanced voice-powered video navigation tools available today.

Available on Thousands of Prime Video Movies

    The scene-jump feature currently supports:

    • Prime Video movies
    • Tens of thousands of indexed scenes

To use it, the selected movie must be:

    • Included with a Prime membership
    • Or purchased or rented via Prime Video

Amazon has also confirmed that TV show support is coming soon, along with a wider content library.

Alexa Plus Also Brings Smart Viewing Assistance

Beyond scene navigation, Alexa Plus adds deeper interactivity during streaming. Users can now ask about:

    • Actor filmographies
    • Soundtrack details
    • Behind-the-scenes trivia

Alexa+ can also recommend related content across platforms including:

    • Prime Video
    • Netflix
    • HBO Max

Live Sports Features Coming to Alexa Plus

Amazon has also expanded Alexa Plus into live sports viewing. Users can now ask Alexa for:

    • Live scores and match stats
    • Player performance data
    • Ongoing games across Prime Video, Sling TV, DIRECTV and Fubo
    • Instant highlights

This makes Alexa Plus a full-fledged smart entertainment assistant beyond movies and TV shows.

    Why This Feature Matters

This update marks a major step toward context-aware streaming, where viewers can jump directly to meaningful moments without scrubbing timelines or searching manually. It also strengthens Prime Video’s position in the AI-powered streaming race.

As Alexa Plus continues to evolve with deeper AI integration, voice-first entertainment is quickly becoming the future of how users interact with content at home.
