Nippon Paint, recognized as Asia Pacific’s leading paint company by revenue, has recently unveiled its latest innovation: Paint Protection Films (PPF) branded as n-SHIELD. The launch took place in New Delhi, marking a significant step for the company as it aims to tap into the growing market for paint protection solutions in India and beyond.
The demand for vehicle paint protection has been steadily increasing; however, the market remains largely unorganized. Over the past four years, Nippon Paint has focused on developing film-based products and is now strategically positioned to offer both paint and paint protection films. This initiative is supported by a comprehensive network of sales and technical teams, along with partnerships with distributors, car dealers, and detailing center associates.
In conjunction with the brand launch, Nippon Paint India has announced its partnership with the India Champions cricket team. This collaboration merges a respected Japanese brand known for innovation with a prominent cricket team in India, underlining shared values of protection, performance, and durability—traits that are vital both on the cricket field and in vehicle surface protection.
Sharad Malhotra, Director of Nippon Paint India, commented on the launch, stating, “When we decided to enter the films market, we leveraged our experience in paint to develop superior film products. Our films will cover all market categories, not just the premium selection. We also plan to manufacture these products in India, aligning with the Make in India initiative.”
Yuvraj Singh, Captain of the India Champions, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating that the team is committed to achieving another championship victory with Nippon Paint’s support. Sumant Bahl, Co-Owner of India Champions, echoed this sentiment, highlighting how the partnership with Nippon Paint reflects their mutual dedication to durability and performance.
Rakesh Handoo, Director of Marketing & Surface Care at Nippon Paint India, noted the natural synergy between the n-SHIELD brand and cricket, emphasizing that the helmet serves as a vital protective piece of gear, mirroring the purpose of their product in safeguarding automotive surfaces.
The n-SHIELD range is being launched in several countries, with India as the second market after Thailand. The portfolio includes a full range of ceramic coatings and detailing products, as well as additional films, such as headlamp protection, which has already garnered OEM endorsements.
Nippon Paint’s Paint Protection Films are designed to offer exceptional UV resistance, gloss retention, and protection against rock chips, debris, and impacts. They are available in gloss, matte, and colored film variants. The company also provides a global e-warranty system for these films and is equipping application partners with advanced precision cutting software and tools to ensure a flawless finish for car owners.
As part of its strategy to enhance its presence in the automotive aftermarket, Nippon Paint is actively seeking distributors across India and forming partnerships with established car dealers and detailing centers. The company plans to establish n-SHIELD studios through franchise partners to improve customer experience and strengthen brand loyalty. In addition, Nippon Paint aims to leverage its association with the India Champions team to offer rewards to partners and customers.
