Sony India has launched the FE 100-400mm F5.6-8 OSS, a new full-frame Alpha E-mount super-telephoto zoom lens aimed at wildlife photographers, travellers and content creators. The lens combines a 100-400mm focal range with a compact build, fast autofocus and optical image stabilisation, while an optional teleconverter can extend its reach to 800mm.
Weighing 654 grams and measuring 165.5mm in length, the lens is positioned as a portable option for shooting wildlife, sports and travel. Sony says its lightweight construction is designed to make longer focal lengths easier to carry and use during extended shooting sessions.
The optical system comprises two Extra-low Dispersion (ED) glass elements and two aspherical elements, aimed at maintaining resolution and contrast across the frame. A nine-blade circular aperture is designed to produce smoother bokeh, while the lens offers a maximum magnification of 0.41x and a minimum focusing distance of 0.86 metres for close-up subjects.

For moving subjects, the lens uses dual linear motors for fast, precise and quiet autofocus. Built-in optical image stabilisation is intended to reduce camera shake when shooting handheld at longer focal lengths. The lens also features a focus-hold button, focus-mode/range switch and zoom-lock switch, alongside dust- and moisture-resistant construction for outdoor use.
Sony has also incorporated recycled materials into the lens as part of its Road to Zero initiative. More than 41% of the total plastic weight is recycled, while the lens barrel, hood and caps use over 32%, 89% and 88% recycled plastic respectively.
Priced at ₹94,990, the FE 100-400mm F5.6-8 OSS goes on sale in India from August 20, 2026, through Sony Centers, authorised dealers, major electronics stores and e-commerce platforms including Amazon and Flipkart.
