Spotify has officially introduced lossless audio streaming in India while overhauling its entire subscription lineup. The platform now offers four new plans Premium Lite, Premium Standard, Premium Platinum, and Premium Student with the lossless audio feature reserved exclusively for the new Premium Platinum tier. Popular legacy plans like Duo have been discontinued.
With the addition of this high-fidelity tier, Spotify aims to compete more directly with rivals like Apple Music and Amazon Music, both of which already offer lossless formats.

Will Lossless Need Manual Activation?
Spotify hasn’t confirmed whether users will need to manually enable lossless audio in India, a requirement seen during the US rollout.
Users should also note that lossless streaming consumes significantly more data. Spotify previously stated that 24-bit/44.1kHz FLAC streaming can use up to 1GB per hour, making it more demanding than standard or high-quality streams.
