Spotify has officially rolled out lossless audio streaming for its Premium subscribers, more than four years after first announcing the feature in February 2021. This long-awaited update allows users in over 50 regions worldwide to enjoy high-fidelity, CD-quality sound without any additional cost. Free, ad-supported users, however, will not have access to lossless streaming.
How to Enable Spotify Lossless Audio
To start listening in lossless quality, Premium subscribers need to activate the feature manually:
- Open the Spotify app and tap your profile picture in the top-left corner.
- Go to Settings & Privacy → Media Quality.
- Choose whether to enable Lossless audio for Wi-Fi, cellular data, or downloads.
Spotify also allows users to select different streaming quality levels—Low, Normal, High, Very High, or Lossless with estimated data usage displayed for each, helping listeners make informed choices.
Tips for the Best Listening Experience
- Use wired headphones or speakers via Spotify Connect instead of Bluetooth, as full lossless quality cannot be transmitted over Bluetooth.
- Lossless files are larger, so songs may take slightly longer to start, but playback remains consistent once buffered.

Supported Devices and Markets
Spotify’s lossless audio supports mobile, desktop, tablet, and Spotify Connect devices from brands like Sony, Bose, Samsung, and Sennheiser. By October, additional support will extend to devices like Sonos and Amazon speakers.
Currently, Premium users in countries including Australia, Austria, Czechia, Denmark, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden, the US, and the UK can access the new lossless feature. The rollout will continue to expand to more than 50 markets by October.
