The midrange smartphone segment is heating up again, and this time, two recently launched power-packed contenders have entered the ring – the Samsung Galaxy A26 5G (₹22,999*) and the Motorola Edge 60 Fusion (₹22,999*). Both devices offer compelling features, but which one deserves your hard-earned money? Let’s break it down across key parameters to find out.

    Design & Build

Samsung keeps it simple yet sleek with the Galaxy A26 5G, featuring a 7.7mm slim profile and a 200g weight. It comes in classic colors like Black, White, Mint, and Peach Pink, making it a versatile choice for different aesthetics. The design, however, doesn’t scream premium, with a water-drop notch still in play.

The Motorola Edge 60 Fusion, on the other hand, is a head-turner. It is lighter at 180.1g, slightly thicker at 8.25 mm but offers a 96.32% screen-to-body ratio, thanks to its curved display with a punch-hole cutout. Motorola also ups the style game with Pantone-certified color options like Slipstream, Amazonite, Zephyr, and Mykonos Blue. The Edge 60 Fusion is also IP68-rated, making it more resistant to water and dust compared to the A26’s IP67 rating.

    Winner: Motorola Edge 60 Fusion

Display – Super AMOLED vs. pOLED

The Galaxy A26 5G sports a 6.7 Super AMOLED display with a 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. While it offers good brightness and smooth scrolling, it lacks the deeper blacks and vibrant colors of an AMOLED panel.

Meanwhile, the Edge 60 Fusion boasts a 6.7-inch pOLED panel with a higher 1220×2712 resolution and Pantone color calibration. It features 4500 nits peak brightness, 100% DCI-P3 coverage, and Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection. Motorola also incorporates a 300Hz touch sampling rate, making it better for gaming.

    Winner: Motorola Edge 60 Fusion

    Performance – Exynos vs. MediaTek

Under the hood, Samsung equips the Galaxy A26 5G with the Exynos 1380 chipset – a 2.4GHz Octa-Core processor paired with a Mali-G68 MP5 GPU. It gets the job done for daily tasks but isn’t the fastest in the segment.

Motorola goes with MediaTek Dimensity 7400 chipset, a 2.5GHz Octa-Core processor coupled with the Mali-G615 MP2 GPU. While both chips handle daily multitasking well, the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 offers better efficiency and gaming performance. Both phones come with 8GB RAM + up to 8GB Virtual RAM, but Motorola offers double the internal storage (256GB vs. 128GB).

    Winner: Motorola Edge 60 Fusion

    Cameras – Who Clicks Better?

Samsung sticks with a 50MP primary sensor with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 2MP macro sensor. The front camera is 13MP, decent for selfies. Motorola takes a more refined approach, also featuring a 50MP primary sensor with OIS, but from Sony’s LYTIA 700C series, known for better low-light performance. It also upgrades the ultra-wide lens to 13MP with PDAF and macro vision. The front camera jumps to 32MP, capable of 4K video recording.

Samsung’s camera software includes features like Single Take, Hyperlapse, and Pro Video, while Motorola counters with Ultra Res, Night Vision, Pro mode, and advanced AI-assisted photography tools.

    Winner: Motorola Edge 60 Fusion

Battery & Charging – Bigger, Faster, Better?

The Galaxy A26 5G houses a 5000mAh battery with 25W fast charging, which is reliable but relatively slow compared to industry standards. Motorola dominates this round with a larger 5500mAh battery and 68W TurboPower fast charging, which can juice up the device significantly faster.

    Winner: Motorola Edge 60 Fusion

    Software & Features

Samsung ships the Galaxy A26 5G with One UI 7 on Android 15, promising 6 generations of OS upgrades and 6 years of security updates, ensuring longevity. It also integrates Samsung Knox security, Circle to Search, and other ecosystem perks.

Motorola loads Hello UI on Android 15, with features like Moto AI tools, Magic Canvas, and AI-powered smart assistants. However, it offers only 3 years of OS updates and 4 years of security patches.

    Winner: Samsung Galaxy A26 5G

Additional Features – The Extras Matter

    • Fingerprint Scanner: Samsung opts for a side-mounted sensor, while Motorola uses an in-display scanner.
    • 5G Support: Both offer 16-band 5G connectivity.
    • NFC: Available on both, but Motorola’s Indian variant lacks NFC.
    • Stereo Speakers & Dolby Atmos: Only Motorola provides dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos.
    • Reverse Charging: Motorola supports it; Samsung does not.

    Winner: Motorola Edge 60 Fusion

Verdict – Which One Should You Buy?

If software longevity, ecosystem benefits, and Samsung’s One UI experience matter to you, then the Galaxy A26 5G is a reliable choice. It ensures better long-term updates and a solid user experience. However, if you want a premium display, faster performance, better cameras, and ultra-fast charging, the Motorola Edge 60 Fusion clearly wins the battle. With a more immersive design, better audio experience, and overall stronger specs, it’s the superior midrange option.
