Perplexity has unveiled a powerful new feature called Labs, aiming to redefine how users bring their ideas to life, without needing a team of developers or designers. Launched on Thursday, May 29, this innovation is now available exclusively for Pro subscribers, promising a fast, intuitive way to build spreadsheets, dashboards, and even web apps in a matter of minutes.
In an official blog post, Perplexity described Labs as a creative assistant that performs over 10 minutes of self-supervised work, using advanced tools like deep web browsing, code execution, and visual content generation. The goal? To help users seamlessly transform abstract ideas into working projects, whether it’s a data-driven report, a sleek web app, or a fully interactive dashboard.
Labs doesn’t just generate concepts, it builds them. It can write and run code, structure datasets, apply formulas, and even generate professional-level charts, documents, and spreadsheets. All the outputs, including images, files, and code, are neatly organised and downloadable from the Assets tab. There’s also a dedicated App tab, where users can instantly build and deploy interactive web elements such as dashboards, websites, or presentations, no external development tools required.

What sets Labs apart is its ability to compress days or even weeks of effort into minutes. Whether you’re mapping out a marketing campaign, analysing business performance, planning meals, or designing a basic web tool, Labs empowers you to do it all, without a single line of code.
Currently accessible via the web platform and mobile apps for Android and iOS, Labs can be found in the mode selector within the input bar. The company has also confirmed that Mac and Windows support is on the way, making the feature even more accessible across platforms.
Despite the arrival of Labs, Perplexity emphasises that Deep Research, now renamed simply to “Research”, remains the go-to tool for fast, comprehensive answers. Labs, on the other hand, are better suited for users who want to explore, build, and create through more in-depth, hands-on workflows. With Labs, Perplexity continues to push the envelope of what AI tools can do—bridging the gap between ideas and execution in a way that’s both powerful and refreshingly simple.
