    9.0 Verdict

The BenQ MOBIUZ EX271Q is a high-performing monitor ideal for work and play. With a 180Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, and AMD FreeSync Premium, it offers a smooth gaming experience. The AI-driven PixSoul Engine and 95% DCI-P3 color gamut provide vibrant visuals, while the KVM switch and ergonomic adjustments enhance productivity.

Priced around ₹27,500, it offers great value compared to competitors like LG Ultragear and ASUS ROG Strix. Its eco-friendly design, made from 85% recycled materials, further appeals to environmentally conscious buyers. Whether for gaming or professional use, the EX271Q is a compelling choice.

    The Good
    1. Smooth 180Hz refresh rate and 1ms GTG response time
    2. Vibrant 95% DCI-P3 color gamut with AI-driven visual enhancements
    3. Ergonomic stand with height, tilt, and swivel adjustments
    4. Intuitive remote control for easy OSD navigation
    The Bad
    1. White casing attracts dust, requiring regular cleaning
    2. No built-in speakers
    3. 400-nit brightness may be limiting for HDR in bright rooms

A great monitor is more than just a screen; it’s a tool that enhances both productivity and entertainment. For work, a high-resolution display with accurate colours and ergonomic adjustments can make long hours more comfortable, reducing eye strain and enabling seamless multitasking. Features like numerous ports allow users to connect multiple devices, streamlining workflows. For gaming, a monitor needs to deliver high frame rates, low response times, and vibrant visuals to keep up with fast-paced action and immersive worlds. The BenQ MOBIUZ EX271Q promises to excel in both domains, boasting a 27-inch QHD IPS panel, a 180Hz refresh rate, and AI-driven visual enhancements. But does it deliver the versatility and performance needed for work and play?

    Design & Build

The BenQ EX271Q boasts a sleek, futuristic design that mirrors the aesthetic of a spacecraft, featuring clean lines and a premium white-and-black colour scheme. Its ultra-slim bezels on all four sides maximize screen real estate, making it ideal for immersive gaming or multi-monitor setups. The monitor comes with a robust stand that supports height adjustment (100 mm), tilt (-5° to 20°), and swivel (±15°), allowing users to find the perfect viewing angle for prolonged sessions. However, it lacks pivot functionality for portrait orientation, which might disappoint creatives or coders who prefer vertical displays.

Setup is a breeze, taking just seconds to attach the stand and connect devices, thanks to its intuitive design. The stand’s footprint is slightly larger for a 27-inch monitor, which could be a consideration for those with limited desk space. For users in dusty environments or near construction sites, the white casing is a potential downside, as it can attract dust and require regular cleaning to maintain its premium appearance. Thankfully, the monitor supports standard 100 x 100 mm VESA mounting, allowing users to easily swap the stand for a monitor arm or wall mount for improved desk organization.

The EX271Q includes a remote control, a standout feature that simplifies navigation through the on-screen display (OSD). The remote allows quick access to input switching, colour profiles, HDR modes, and eye-care settings, making adjustments more intuitive than the two buttons located at the bottom center of the monitor. Overall, the design is both ergonomic and stylish, though users in dusty areas should be prepared for extra maintenance.

    Performance

The BenQ EX271Q is built for performance, featuring a 27-inch QHD (2560×1440) IPS panel with a 180Hz refresh rate (via DisplayPort) and a 1ms GTG response time. These specs ensure silky-smooth visuals and minimal motion blur, making it ideal for fast-paced games like Doom Eternal or Call of Duty. AMD FreeSync Premium eliminates screen tearing and stuttering, enhancing gameplay fluidity across a 48-180Hz range. The monitor also supports HDR10 with VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification, delivering a peak brightness of 400 nits and various HDR modes (Cinema HDRi, Sci-fi HDRi, Realistic HDRi, etc.) for dynamic visuals.

    BenQ Display

BenQ’s PixSoul Engine is a highlight, leveraging AI to optimize visuals in real-time. The Game Optimized Colour feature, developed with gamer feedback, tailors colour profiles to specific genres, enhancing earthy tones for realistic games like Red Dead Redemption 2 or boosting saturation for fantasy titles like Elden Ring. The AI Contrast function adjusts contrast by zones, revealing intricate details in dark scenes without overexposing bright areas. Users can further customize visuals with Colour Vibrance and Light Tuner, ensuring a personalized experience.

The 2.0-channel audio output delivers decent sound for a monitor. While not a replacement for dedicated speakers, it’s sufficient for casual gaming or video playback. The monitor also includes BenQ’s Eye-Care Technology, with Brightness Intelligence Plus adjusting brightness and colour temperature based on ambient light, Flicker-Free technology, and Low Blue Light certification from TÜV Rheinland, making it comfortable for long work or gaming sessions.

For work, the QHD resolution offers sharp text and ample screen space for multitasking, while the 95% DCI-P3 colour gamut ensures vibrant, accurate colours for creative tasks such as photo editing. The IPS panel offers excellent viewing angles, maintaining colour consistency. However, the 400-nit brightness may struggle in bright environments, particularly for HDR content, where higher-end monitors with 600+ nits shine.

    Plenty of Ports

The EX271Q is a connectivity powerhouse, equipped with dual HDMI 2.0 ports, a DisplayPort 1.4, two USB Type-A ports, a USB Type-C data port, and a USB-C port with 65W Power Delivery for charging laptops or devices. The built-in KVM switch is a game-changer for multitaskers, allowing seamless control of multiple devices (e.g., a PC and console) with a single keyboard and mouse. This is particularly useful for users juggling work and gaming setups. The inclusion of a 3.5mm headphone jack complements the port selection, although the absence of integrated speakers (unlike the EX2710Q) may disappoint some users.

    BenQ EX271Q Ports

The Colour Shuttle software enhances versatility by letting users save and switch between custom presets for different games or tasks, with cloud support for transferring settings to other devices. Scenario Mapping bundles colour, audio, and eye-care settings for specific use cases, streamlining transitions between work, gaming, or media consumption.
