WhatsApp to Introduce Voicemail-Like Feature for Missed Calls: How It Works

WhatsApp is rolling out a new voicemail-style feature that allows users to leave a quick voice message if a call goes unanswered. According to WABetaInfo, the feature is already being tested with select beta users on the latest WhatsApp beta for Android. Designed to work like traditional voicemail, this update makes communication on WhatsApp more convenient, faster, and effortless.

WhatsApp’s New Voicemail Feature: What Is It?

As per reports, when a user places a call and the recipient doesn’t pick up, a new option appears on the call screen. This lets the caller immediately record and send a voice message. The shortcut is also visible in the chat window where the missed call occurred, ensuring a quick and context-aware way to follow up.

Unlike regular WhatsApp voice notes, which can be sent anytime during chats, this new voicemail feature is triggered specifically after a missed call. It serves as both a reminder that the call wasn’t answered and a convenient way to leave important information without the need to redial or type out a long text.

For example, if you try calling a coworker with a quick update but they are unavailable, you can instantly send a short voice message. The recipient can then listen to it as soon as they are free, making the process smoother and more time-efficient.

    How It Appears in Chats

Once recorded, the voicemail-style message will appear directly within the conversation thread, alongside the missed call notification. This ensures that recipients not only know they missed a call but also receive the voice message at the same time.

This integration makes it easier to stay updated without scheduling another call, offering users the flexibility to respond at their convenience.

    Why This Feature Matters

WhatsApp’s voicemail-like feature adds another layer of seamless communication to the platform. By allowing users to leave instant voice updates when calls fail to connect, WhatsApp ensures critical information is delivered promptly while still giving recipients the freedom to reply later.

With this rollout, WhatsApp continues to strengthen its position as a complete communication tool, bridging the gap between calls, texts, and voice notes.
