Nothing has started the general rollout of Nothing OS 5.0, its biggest software update yet. Built on Android 17, the update brings over 80 changes across design, personalisation, performance and AI features. The rollout begins with the Nothing Phone (3), with more Nothing and CMF smartphones set to receive it over the coming months.
The update introduces a redesigned Home Screen with transparent widget details and adaptive colours based on the user’s wallpaper. It also adds a new Micrographics clock face to the Lock Screen, displaying the date, time, weather and upcoming meetings at a glance. Meanwhile, further improvements to Essential Space will arrive through Google Play.

The open beta also introduced refreshed icons, smoother animations, and improved system performance. Users can also access new widgets, including Collector to create visual collections and Away Time to track screen-free time.
On the AI front, Nothing OS 5.0 brings improvements to Essential Voice and Essential Space. It also includes Essential Apps Builder, which allows users to create and deploy AI-powered apps using text prompts, without coding.
Finally, the Android 17-based update adds separate Notification and Quick Settings panels, cross-platform Quick Share, enhanced privacy controls and a redesigned Recents screen. However, availability will depend on the device and rollout schedule.
