Nothing appears to have struck a chord with Indian buyers, even as its newly launched Nothing Phone (4b) has become Flipkart’s best-selling smartphone in the ₹30,000-plus segment on its very first day of sale, while simultaneously registering the biggest day-one smartphone opening in the company’s history.
According to Nothing, online sales of the Phone (4b) surpassed the first-day online sales of every previous Nothing smartphone. More significantly, the figure even exceeded the combined day-one online and offline sales of the brand’s earlier launches, making the Phone (4b) its strongest commercial debut yet.
The milestone comes at a particularly interesting time for the smartphone industry. Rising DRAM and storage costs have forced brands across the board to either increase prices, trim hardware specifications or adopt quieter product launches. Nothing, however, chose a different approach. While the Phone (4b) carries a starting MRP of ₹34,999, launch offers bring its effective price down to ₹29,999, making it one of the company’s most accessible smartphones while retaining signature features such as Nothing OS, the Glyph Bar and Essential AI tools.

Speaking after the record-breaking debut, Evangelidis said that despite “unprecedented market conditions,” the company chose to give the Phone (4b) “the launch moment it deserved” rather than soften expectations or compromise on the overall user experience. He added that Nothing’s confidence stems from years of refining Nothing OS, which he described as one of the primary reasons customers continue choosing the brand.
In my first impressions from Ladakh, I found the Phone (4b) to offer a polished software experience, a bright 6.77-inch AMOLED display, a capable 50MP primary camera with OIS and the distinctive design language that has become synonymous with Nothing. While the device opts for Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 instead of the newer Gen 5 chipset, my initial experience suggested that everyday performance remained fluid, aided by the company’s clean software implementation.
Commenting on the launch, Mukund Kedia, Senior Director at Flipkart, said the overwhelming customer response reflects a growing preference for thoughtfully designed products that deliver innovation and a differentiated user experience, adding that Flipkart looks forward to continuing its partnership with Nothing to bring new technology to consumers across India.
With the Phone (4b) setting sales records despite a challenging market, Nothing’s latest launch suggests that distinctive design and software experience continue to resonate with buyers, even in an industry navigating one of its most difficult pricing environments in years.
