Qualcomm launched two new flagship mobile chips at the Snapdragon Summit in Hawaii. The company introduced the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Mobile Platforms. Qualcomm is extending its flagship portfolio to power the “agentic AI age.”
This is Qualcomm’s first time launching two premium chips at once. Chris Patrick, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Mobile Handsets at Qualcomm, said the two-platform strategy pushes the limits of mobile AI. He added that it gives OEM partners more choice as they shape the next generation of personalised devices.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 is the star of the new lineup. Qualcomm calls it its most powerful mobile platform yet. The chip enables on-device AI agents that adapt to users throughout the day. It also brings a new feature called Adreno Neural Fusion. This uses AI to sharpen in-game graphics and extend playtime. On the camera side, the chip adds Advanced Professional Video support and Intelligent Pixel Control. Together, these aim to improve scene understanding and produce more natural-looking photos and videos.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 shares the same base. It runs on the same 2nm process node as the Extreme variant. It also uses the same Qualcomm Oryon CPU, a rearchitected Adreno GPU, and the Hexagon NPU. As a result, this chip carries many of the same AI, gaming, and imaging features to a wider range of premium phones.
Qualcomm confirmed that flagship phones with these chips will arrive from several major OEMs. The list includes Honor, iQOO, Motorola, Nubia, OnePlus, OPPO, REDMI, RedMagic, vivo, Xiaomi, and ZTE.
