BMW Launches New 7 Series Range in India

BMW India launched the new 7 Series range in India. The flagship sedan now comes in petrol and all-electric versions. The lineup also includes the BMW i7 M70, the most powerful 7 Series ever built. Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh unveiled the car at the launch event. BMW named him the brand’s voice in India.

    Design

The new 7 Series introduces BMW’s updated luxury design language. The front features the Iconic Glow Kidney Grille and crystal headlights with Swarovski diamond-cut glass. Standard adaptive LED headlights with a range of up to 600 meters. The rear gets fully redesigned taillights that stretch across the width of the car.

Buyers who choose the M Sport package get a sportier look. This includes larger air intakes, 20-inch alloy wheels, and M Sport brakes.

The i7 M70 xDrive stands apart. It has a larger front apron, black exterior mirrors, and 21-inch M wheels. There is an M badge on the grille, and the illuminated kidney grille glows darker for a sportier effect.

    Interior and Technology

The vehicle’s interior is centred on the BMW Panoramic iDrive system. This includes a projection display that spans the full width of the windscreen. A 17.9-inch display sitting in the centre.

For the first time, BMW adds a Passenger Screen to the 7 Series. This 14.6-inch touchscreen lets front-seat passengers use content without needing a BMW profile. It automatically dims when the driver’s eyes shift toward it.

Rear passengers get their own upgrades. A 31.3-inch, 8K Theatre Screen extends from the roof on command. It has a Bowers & Wilkins sound system that supports Dolby Atmos. The rear seats also recline up to 43 degrees for added comfort. The doors close automatically using radar-based sensors instead of older ultrasonic sensors. Buyers can also add a panoramic sunroof with over 40 LED lights built into the glass.

    Performance and Range

    The petrol-only 740 M Sport uses a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder engine. It produces 400 hp and 540 Nm of torque. It goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 250 km/h.

The i7 eDrive50 xDrive produces 455 hp and 660 Nm of torque. It goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds, with a top speed of 210 km/h. Its 112.5 kWh battery delivers a range of 728 km, 125 km more than the previous model. This makes it the longest-range car in its class.

The i7 M70 xDrive is at the top of the electric lineup. Its dual motors give a combined 680 hp. Torque reaches 1,015 Nm in Sport mode and climbs to 1,100 Nm with Launch Control or Sport Boost engaged. As a result, it goes from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds, with the same 250 km/h top speed as the 740. Its WLTP range is 686 km.

BMW also offers fast charging. A 250 kW DC charger takes the battery from 10% to 80% in 28 minutes. A 10-minute charge adds 235 km of range. A full charge on a 22 kW AC charger takes about 6 hours. BMW includes a complimentary home Wallbox charger with installation for i7 buyers.

BMW will now build the i7 at its Chennai plant. This makes India the only country besides Germany to produce the i7 locally. The i7 M70, however, will only be sold as a fully imported unit.

    Pricing and Availability

    Ex-showroom prices are as follows:

    • BMW 740 M Sport: ₹1,95,00,000
    • BMW i7 eDrive50 xDrive M Sport: ₹1,95,00,000
    • BMW i7 M70 xDrive: ₹2,65,00,000

Bookings are open at BMW India dealerships now. Deliveries begin in October 2026.
