MG Motors India has unveiled the Hector Tomahawk, its first SUV built on ADAPT, the company’s new Multi-New Energy Vehicle platform. The car comes in two versions: all-electric (EV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV). MG is positioning the PHEV as India’s first PHEV in its segment, engineered for a combined driving range of over 1,100 km on a full tank and full charge. A 1.5-litre petrol engine, a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission, and a 20.5 kWh battery power it, with the battery alone delivering 115+ km of pure-electric range. The system switches intelligently between four drive modes — Pure Electric, Series Hybrid, Parallel Hybrid, and Engine Direct Drive — and its 148 kW motor takes the car from 0–100 km/h in about 9 seconds.
The EV variant runs on a 69.2 kWh “MAGIC Battery” paired with a 150 kW/310 Nm motor, delivering a single-charge range of 517 km and supporting DC fast charging up to 90 kW.
Both variants share a spacious cabin, a 15.6-inch HD display, Level 2 ADAS, i-SMART 3.0 connectivity with 80+ features, and India’s first GenAI-powered voice assistant, which understands 30+ Hinglish commands. Buyers can choose from seven signature colours.

Pricing:
For a limited number of bookings, MG is offering both models under an introductory Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) scheme, where customers rent the battery separately:
- EV: ₹13.99 lakh + ₹4.90/km battery rental (BaaS); full-ownership ex-showroom price starts at ₹19.49 lakh
- PHEV: ₹21.79 lakh + ₹3.20/km battery rental (BaaS); full-ownership ex-showroom price starts at ₹25.69 lakh
The EV gives buyers a more affordable entry point and comes in both 5- and 7-seater layouts, with a single-charge range of 517 km — a strong fit for buyers who want pure electric driving and a lower upfront cost. The PHEV costs more but delivers greater range, covering 1,100+ km combined; however, MG offers it only as a 7-seater, making it better suited to buyers who want hybrid flexibility for long-distance travel without depending solely on charging infrastructure.
Bookings are open now. MG will begin EV deliveries in September 2026, and PHEV test drives and deliveries will start in November 2026.
