‘Zuck is a Cuck’ says Elon Musk as he ramps up his attacks on Mark Zuckerberg

There was Logan Paul Vs KSI, TikTok Vs YouTube, and now it looks like Elon Musk vs Mark Zuckerberg is brewing up to be one of the biggest brawls in recent times. Gone are the days when beefing up was limited to social media personalities or brands, now, billionaires are in for the fun and openly mocking each other on public platforms. Truly interesting times we’re living in!

Elon Calls Zuckerberg ‘Cuck’

The war of words took a sharp turn between Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg recently when the former took a jibe at Zuckerberg in a tweet on Sunday writing “Zuck is a Cuck” This comes after the launch of Zuckerberg’s Threads which is a direct rival to Musk’s Twitter. Musk’s latest jibe at Zuckerberg came as a reply of a Threads post by the brand page of Wendy’s. The fast-food chain Wendy’s Thread post tagged Mark while writing “hey @zuck, you should go to space just to really make him mad lol” Zuckerberg replied with a laughing emoji on this post which was later shared on Twitter by a user as a screenshot.

Musk seems to be losing his grip while taking shots at Zuckerberg as he suggested a dick-measuring competition between the two. Yes, you read that right! Threads, Mark Zuckerberg’s cheap copy of Twitter has become the fastest-growing app in history clocking in 100 million users in just five days since its release. Ever since the launch of this platform, a war has been waged between the two on social and legal platforms. It will be interesting to see what shape this feud takes in the near future. If you ask me, the sexual tension between the two billionaires is just way too high and they should stop and make out already!

Triumph Speed 400 & Scrambler 400X launched in India

Triumph launched two of the most highly anticipated motorcycles of the year, the Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X today in India. These bikes were previously unveiled in London, UK last month, and will be manufactured by Bajaj Auto in the Indian state of Maharashtra. Co-developed with Bajaj, the two motorcycles receive their sleek design from the Speed Twin and Scrambler motorcycle range. Both models are based on an all-new platform and share the same frame powered by a new liquid-cooling single-cylinder engine.

A Triumphant Endeavour

The appearance of the newly launched Triumph bikes is appealing, to say the least. The Scrambler 400X is equipped with a refreshed exhaust system, all-terrain tyres, and removable seats. The two bikes are significantly different in size from one another. The Scrambler 400X features a longer wheelbase as compared to the Speed 400, measuring 1,418mm while the latter measures 1,377mm.

Both bikes are equipped with Triumph’s new TR-series engine. The liquid-cooling engine has a displacement of 398cc and a double overhead camshaft configuration. This latest engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with the output figures being close to the KTM 390s which was also made by India Bajaj.

Despite the relatively cheaper price tag of Rs 2,33,000 for the Speed 400, the design seems to scream premium. The pricing for the Scrambler 400X has not been revealed by the makers just yet. Both bikes use Digi-analogue displays which can be equipped with heated grips. The gearbox sports a slipper and clutch assist mechanism. The feature list on both motorcycles is similar including full-LED lighting, semi-digital instrument cluster, ride-by-wire throttle, switchable traction control system, dual-channel ABS, and an anti-theft immobiliser. These vehicles are projected to have an advantage over rivals such as the Husqvarna Svartpilen 250, BMW G 310 R, Zontes GK350, KTM 390 Duke, Honda CB300R, and Honda CB350RS.

Instagram all set to compete Twitter with new application

Twitter has been going through a dramatic meltdown ever since Elon Musk took command of the platform. Just recently, Musk revealed that Twitter will be limiting how many tweets a user sees down to just a thousand for non-paying users. It won’t be wrong to state that Twitter is no longer the platform is used to and the changed leadership has caused more damage than one could’ve initially imagined. Taking advantage of a failing platform, Facebook parent Meta is all set to launch a microblogging app of their own titled – Threads.

Twitter competitor on the way

Threads, Instagram’s text-based conversation application is expected to be released on July 6, 2023. This platform will allow users to follow the same people they follow on the photo and video sharing platform of Instagram along with having the same username. The launch comes merely days after Twitter announced the restrictions on their app.

The application is already live on Apple’s App Store. The description for the same read – “Threads is where communities come together to discuss everything from the topics you care about today to what’ll be trending tomorrow. Whatever it is you’re interested in, you can follow and connect directly with your favorite creators and others who love the same things — or build a loyal following of your own to share your ideas, opinions and creativity with the world.”

while Threads is closely connected to the Instagram platform, it is a standalone application which is an interesting approach, to say the least. There is no definitive information on how the application will operate as of now. However, it looks like users can like, comment, repost, and share posts on it. It will be interesting to see if Meta is able to migrate hardcore Twitter users to their platform. The general consensus about the new Meta platform has been rather underwhelming on Twitter with many users straight up saying they’re not interested in it. One of the tweets I read was something along the line of – “It’s a Meta product, so we won’t use it” which was followed by a good chunk of likes and replies.

The Google Pixel Fold is Already Breaking!

It has been just over a week since Google’s first-ever foldable device hit the market. However, even before the device could reach the hands of mainstream customers, the Google Pixel Folds are breaking up! Several reports and complaints on the Internet have mentioned that the Pixel Fold’s display is breaking with some users even sharing photos of the broken display.

One Pixel Fold user started noticing a bright pink line over the display just mere hours after they started using it. Additionally, another Pixel Fold owner posted photos of dents on the inner screen of the device. This is a matter of grave concern as more and more users have been coming forward and sharing that their Pixel fold devices are breaking up!

Pixel Fold in the pickle

While dents and display issues are surely not to be taken lightly, Ron Amadeo from Ars Technica shared that his Pixel Fold device died after using it for just four days. In his case, the device died after some debris got caught between its screen protector and the bezel. When the phone was shut close, the debris punctured the display resulting in the device dying entirely. Users around the world have also witnessed a popping sound with the Pixel Fold’s hinge when opening the phone.

So… why is this happening?

While there is no objective answer for why the Google Pixel Fold devices are specifically dying, there is a general answer. Foldable displays are incredibly fragile compared to standard smartphones. The folding devices use Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) which allows the screen to fold. On top of it is a plastic screen protector to ensure the glass is protected.

However, if any tiny little bit of debris gets under the protector or the glass then it can easily damage the screen. Whenever the user shuts the device close, it presses dust and debris against it which leads to the folding displays breaking up. In response to user complaints, Google spokesperson Alex Moriconi advised them to reach out to support to investigate.

Musk Strikes Back – Twitter’s Tweet Limitation Drama Continues

In the aftermath of Twitter’s decision to limit the number of tweets users can view, Elon Musk, the platform owner, took to Twitter on Sunday morning to humorously urge people to detach themselves from their phones and spend quality time with their loved ones instead.

Musk’s light-hearted remark aimed at Twitter users coincided with the backlash the micro-blogging site faced due to its new policy of temporarily restricting tweet views. In his tweet, the Twitter CEO advised users to awaken from their technological trance and engage with friends and family, stepping away from their smartphones.

Following Musk’s announcement on Saturday that unverified users could view up to 600 posts per day and newly unverified accounts limited to 300 posts per day while Twitter Blue subscribers are limited to reading 6000 posts per day, numerous users flooded Twitter feeds with suggestions that Musk’s underlying motive behind the rule was to amass more subscribers.

However, the Twitter CEO explained that the decision was made to combat excessive data scraping and system manipulation. He later revised the limits to 800 and 8,000, respectively. Five hours later, Musk tweeted again, stating that the new limits would be 1,000 for unverified accounts and 10,000 for verified users.

As a result of the imposed restrictions, users found themselves locked out of Twitter for the day once they reached their daily limit. Shortly after Saturday’s announcement, the term ‘Twitter down’ began trending on the platform, with numerous users expressing frustration over their inability to access the site. Approximately 7,500 individuals reported difficulties accessing Twitter at one point on Saturday, according to Downdetector, a website that monitors online outages.

Musk’s recent tweet, where he glorified achieving a new record view count, also sparked a flood of memes in response. However, some users voiced concerns that the new policy could adversely affect businesses attempting to promote their ventures on the platform, as they may struggle to reach their intended audience. Previously, Twitter had taken various measures to win back advertisers who had left the platform during Musk’s ownership and to enhance subscription revenue, such as incorporating verification check marks into the Twitter Blue program.

Earlier, Musk had expressed dissatisfaction with the aggressive data scraping activities of numerous organizations, which significantly impacted the user experience on Twitter. He also voiced his disapproval of Artificial Intelligence firms like OpenAI, the entity behind ChatGPT, for utilizing Twitter’s data to train their large language models.

LinkedIn introduces new AI bot for writing posts

Who would’ve thought the generative Ai technology will make its way to LinkedIn? Microsoft certainly did as the professional networking platform is all set to expand its use of AI. Soon, users will be able to use AI on LinkedIn to swiftly write posts which can be shared in the form of updates within their network. LinkedIn’s Director of Product, Keren Baruch recently shared a LinkedIn post writing – “When it comes to posting on LinkedIn, we’ve heard that you generally know what you want to say, but going from a great idea to a full fledged post can be challenging and time consuming. So, we’re starting to test a way for members to use generative AI directly within the LinkedIn share box.”

LinkedIn’s AI bot

So, how exactly will this AI bot work? The new generative AI feature will help users easily write posts on the platform. Users will simply need to share at least a 30 words outline of what they want to say. The initial text in the 30 words outline should be the basic gist of the post. The AI chatbot will then use that input to create a first draft. Users can then review the draft and edit it before they post it online.

“Responsible AI is a foundational part of this process so we’ll be moving thoughtfully to test this experience before rolling it out to all our members,” Baruch added in her post.

It was only earlier this year when LinkedIn introduced an AI-powered tool to suggest different versions of an ad based on data provided by the campaign manager’s ‘introductory text’ box. As LinkedIn is owned by Microsoft which is also partnered up with OpenAI majorly, it is not surprising to see AI capabilities being introduced in LinkedIn. It will be interesting to see how AI is implemented in other major networking apps like Instagram or Twitter in the coming years.

Over 1 lakh ChatGPT accounts stolen

Over the past few months, ChatGPT has undoubtedly become synonymous with chatbot AI services in the mainstream. OpenAI’s chatbot has become a go-to for people around the world for various purposes, be it research or drafting letters/articles. ChatGPT has also witnessed its share of controversies with some countries banning it altogether. Unfortunately, the mainstream attention to the chatbot has also attracted some notorious hackers who pry into similar applications for stealing personal data for making a quick buck by selling information. It is now revealed that a Singapore-based cybersecurity firm has identified 1,00,000 data stealer-infected devices which have ChatGPT credentials saved.

ChatGPT accounts stolen

Surprisingly, India has witnessed the highest number of accounts compromised in this attack. Group-IB, a Singapore-based cyber technology recently revealed that India, Pakistan, and Brazil were the top countries where users were infected by the cyber attack. A total of 12,642 Indian accounts, followed by 9,217 Pakistan accounts, and 6,531 Brazil accounts are affected by the cyber attack.

The report suggests furthermore that the stolen credentials were traded on dark web marketplaces, most numbers of accounts traded were from the Asia-Pacific region. It was not too long ago when prominent tech leaders like Elon had called for regulations over ChatGPT-like applications in an open letter. The Europe Union also recently introduced the AI Act which called for immediate regulations over AI platforms.

ChatGpt and similar chatbot Ai applications are being used around the world by people to enhance productivity. However, while giving prompts to AI services, users might end up sharing some confidential data with the platform which makes it a matter of data security. Several companies have now barred its employees from using such AI services stating a similar reason.

The Curious Case of Titanic Tourist Submersible

We’re all aware of the ill-fated RMS Titanic ship which was the largest liner at the time back in 1912. The mammoth ship could house more than 2,400 passengers along with more than 800 staff and crew members. During its first-ever voyage from England to the United States, the Titanic hit an iceberg in the freezing waters of the North Atlantic Ocean leading to catastrophic deaths. Reportedly only 712 members of the Titanic survived the wreckage which led to the ship being split into two pieces.

The wreckage wasn’t discovered until decades later in 1985 in Canadian waters. Titanic’s wreck lies 700 km south of St John’s Newfoundland.  It was back in 1997 when visionary filmmaker James Cameron brought mainstream interest to Titanic and its wreckage with his blockbuster romantic tragedy film featuring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. Cameron himself has been to the wreckage himself around 33 times and calls it “one of the most unforgiving places on earth”.

While researchers do not have much to gain from the wreckage site itself, the immense amount of mainstream and cultural interest resulted in the foundation of OceanGate Expeditions. Private citizens curious to explore the wreckage themselves can cough up an amount of $250,000 per person to tour it. Unfortunately, one of these Titanic tourist submersibles has gone missing with five onboard passengers.

What exactly happened?

OceanGate Expeditions carried out an eight-day trip with five civilians to the Titanic wreckage in a submersible titled ‘Titan’. The trip was based out of Newfoundland with participants first traveling 400 nautical miles to the wreck site. The site is about 900 miles off the coast of Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

The submersible began its two-hour descent to the wreckage site on 18th June 2023, Sunday morning. However, it lost contact with the supporting ship that transported them to the vessel site. Officials stated it was around 1 hour and 45 minutes into the descent when all contact was lost. Major search operations began later that day. However, it is not clear what happened to the submersible, how close it was to the Titanic and why it lost contact in the first place.

The identities of the five people include a pilot and four other passengers. They include Paul-Henri Nargeolet, a French maritime expert, Hamish Harding, a British businessman, Shahzada Dawood and his 19-year-old son, Suleman, along with Stockton Rush, the founder and CEO of OceanGate.

Submersible Titan was sent to explore the Titanic wreckage with 96 hours of oxygen. At the time of writing, the oxygen inside the submersible is almost over. Interestingly, Wendy Rush, the wife of the missing Titan submersible Pilot is the great-great-grandaughter of two passengers who died on the Titanic back in 1912. Deep sea exploration experts have officially stated that it would be a miracle if the Submersible is recovered with all passengers and the pilot alive, and we’re all hoping for a miracle!

Reddit Data Held Hostage by Hackers Demanding $4.5 Million Ransom!

Reddit has been the centre point of major headlines in the past few weeks. The social media platform decided to change its API rules which adversely affected third-party apps in the process. As a result, a few of the big client apps of Reddit have announced shutdowns. On the other hand, several major subreddits have gone dark in protest of the changing API rules. In a shocking turn of events, a hacker group has threatened to leak 80GB of confidential Reddit data unless the company decides to roll back the API changes and also coughs up a ransom amount of $4.5 million!

Hacker group asks $4.5 million ransom from Reddit

A group of hackers collectively known as ALPHV who were infamously known for the BlackCat ransomware have claimed responsibility for the major Reddit breach which was acknowledged by the company back in February this year. The same group was also responsible for targeting Western Digital and Amazon’s surveillance hardware brand, Ring back in March.

The hackers are holding around 80GB of internal Reddit data with two simple demands – Reddit must roll back the latest API changes and cough up $4.5 million as ransom. ALPHV made a post on the dark web stating that it contacted Reddit on April 13 and again on June 16 without any response from them.

TechCrunch reportedly made a request for a comment by a Reddit spokesperson to no avail. However, Reddit has reassured everyone that no customer data, user passwords, or user banking data has been compromised. The hackers have reportedly gained access to internal documents and the code which runs the website. While the hacker claims are bold, they haven’t shown any proof of the stolen data.
