Japanese appliance maker AKAI launched a new range of refrigerators in India. The refrigerators feature a glass-finish door and nature-inspired designs.
The range includes two variants. Violet Leaf features violet leaf patterns and water droplets on a black background. Golden Flower features a golden floral pattern with gold dust, also set against a black background.
Both models are 190-litre Direct Cool single-door refrigerators. AKAI designed the compact size and glass finish to suit modern Indian kitchens. Anurag Sharma, MD & CEO of AKAI India, said the products align with the aesthetic preferences of Indian families. He added that the company followed its “Mottainai” philosophy, which focuses on offering value without compromising on appearance.

The refrigerators include the following features:
- Deep Fresh Zone: A temperature stabilisation system with a removable anti-bacterial gasket keeps fruits and vegetables fresh.
- Three cooling settings: Users can choose between three temperature modes depending on the season.
- Storage space: A 12-litre vegetable box and a separate space hold beverage bottles.
- Glass shelves: Toughened glass shelves adjust to hold heavy items.
- Maintenance: Manual defrosting, a protective back panel, and stabiliser-free operation let the fridge handle voltage fluctuations without an external stabiliser.
- LED lighting: Interior LED lights improve visibility.
The refrigerator consumes 197.2 units of electricity per year. AKAI backs it with a 10-year warranty on the compressor and a 1-year warranty on the rest of the unit. The refrigerator costs ₹18,190 at launch. Customers can buy it on AKAI India’s website, through select online retailers, and at AKAI’s authorised offline stores.
