Canon is seemingly doubling down on India’s rapidly expanding creator economy with the launch of the EOS R6V, a new full-frame mirrorless camera designed specifically for filmmakers, wedding cinematographers, and digital-first creators. Paired with the RF 20-50mm F4L IS USM, which is Canon’s first-ever L-series lens with a built-in power zoom, the new setup signals the brand’s growing focus on video-first storytelling in India.
At a time when short-form video, regional cinema, and creator-led productions are exploding across platforms, Canon’s latest offering is clearly aimed at creators who need professional-grade cinematic tools without the complexity of a full cinema rig.

The EOS R6V borrows the imaging capabilities of the EOS R6 Mark III but optimises them for filmmaking. It features a 32.5MP full-frame sensor, 7K Open Gate recording, advanced autofocus, and a built-in cooling fan that allows significantly longer recording sessions. Canon claims the cooling system enables approximately three times longer 7K recording compared to the EOS R6 Mark III, making it ideal for interviews, live events, and extended shoots.
One of the standout additions is the RF 20-50mm F4L IS USM lens. Unlike conventional zoom lenses, it features a built-in power zoom mechanism for smoother cinematic transitions, while maintaining a compact, travel-friendly design. The lens also supports configurable zoom speeds and internal zooming, eliminating the need to rebalance gimbals during shoots.
Canon has also launched the #IndiaInMotion initiative alongside the camera, which is a creator-led movement celebrating cinematic storytelling across India’s diverse cultures and landscapes.
The EOS R6V is priced at ₹2,35,995, while the RF 20-50mm F4L IS USM lens costs ₹1,42,995. The combined kit is available at ₹3,55,995.
