Sony India has unveiled Ocellus (ASR-CT1), its first advanced camera tracking system aimed at simplifying augmented reality (AR) and virtual production workflows for broadcasters, filmmakers, and live production creators. Designed to support cinematic and broadcast applications, the new system offers seamless marker-free tracking by using multiple sensors and Sony’s proprietary Visual SLAM (Simultaneous Localisation and Mapping) technology.
The Ocellus system consists of a compact sensor unit, a processing box, and three lens encoders, making it compatible with Sony Cinema Line cameras, system cameras, and even non-Sony setups. Equipped with five image sensors, the system is capable of delivering stable tracking performance both indoors and outdoors without the need for physical markers.

Sony says the system can extract metadata such as focus, iris, and zoom values directly from compatible cameras through SDI output and transmit the data in real time to external devices via Ethernet. For lenses lacking metadata support, the included lens encoders capture the required information for virtual production and AR applications. The system also enables recording of tracking data, lens metadata, and timecode to simplify post-production workflows.
Commenting on the launch, Mukesh Srivastava, Head of Digital Imaging Business at Sony India, said the growing demand for immersive storytelling is driving the adoption of AR and virtual production technologies, and OCELLUS has been engineered to deliver portability, precision, and seamless workflow integration.
The OCELLUS ASR-CT1 is priced at ₹32,37,990 and is now available across Sony Centre stores, Alpha Flagship outlets, and major electronics retailers in India.
