Apple Shifts iPhone Production for US Market to India, Says Tim Cook
Tim Cook clarified that Apple is making its other significant products for the US market in Vietnam. Yet most Apple products for international markets are still made in China. Cook also pointed out that India will become the ‘country of origin’ for a majority of iPhones in the US, a drastic change in Apple’s international supply chain strategy. The decision comes as part of Apple’s bid to minimize dependence on Chinese production, where tariffs are much higher than in India and Vietnam, both of which presently have just 10% tariffs.
Apple Vision Feature ‘Air’: Light and Less Expensive Than Apple’s Vision Pro Headset May Come Quickly
Apple may introduce a lower-cost and lighter Vision Pro headset as early as later this year. Apple has been working on an “Air” version of the mixed reality headset that is expected to arrive between late 2025 and early 2026. The nature of the new headset whether it is to be used independently or needs to be tethered to a Mac remains unknown. Internally, Apple is said to find the present Vision Pro too heavy to wear for long periods, and its premium price has been a dampener on adoption. The new product is said to solve both these issues, providing greater comfort and a lower price point.
After Search, Google to Roll Out AI-Generated Video Summaries on YouTube: Report
Google is working on artificial intelligence (AI)-generated video overviews for YouTube, reports say. In a revision of its help page, technology giant Google revealed that it has been piloting an AI-driven overview feature on YouTube. The new feature will draw clips from existing videos that are deemed relevant to a user’s search query. In a similar way as Google Search presents a text AI Overview that synthesizes content on various web pages YouTube’s Overviews will now show users condensed video clips as a carousel presentation. The organization stated that for now, it will be seen only for selected topics.
OnePlus 13s Compact Flagship to Lauch Soon in India
OnePlus has also officially announced that the OnePlus 13s would be fueled by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, and it would pack flagship-level processing power. It is also slated to offer maximum 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM and maximum 1TB UFS 4.0 storage, with cutting-edge speed as well as multi-tasking facilities. The firm has also introduced two new color options for India: Black Velvet and Pink Satin. OnePlus says that the Black Velvet finish is inspired by the deep blue of a night sky, and the Pink Satin variant represents OnePlus’ first-ever pink-finished smartphone a fashionable new addition for enthusiasts.
Considering its close similarity to the OnePlus 13T, the OnePlus 13s is expected to feature a 6.32-inch full-HD+ OLED display with a 120Hz LTPO refresh rate, HDR10+, Dolby Vision support, and up to 1,600 nits peak brightness for amazing HDR content viewing.
In terms of photography, the OnePlus 13s is expected to feature a dual 50 MP rear camera setup with optical image stabilization (OIS) and a 16MP front camera for selfies and video calls.
The device is also rumored to pack a 6,260mAh battery supported by 80W wired fast charging, ensuring minimal downtime and extended usage.
Realme GT 7 India Launch Hinted?
Realme officially confirmed that the GT 7 will be available in India in the near future. Rumor has it that the phone was co-tested with Krafton, the creator of the hit battle royale game Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI). The new Realme GT 7 is also likely to follow in the steps of the Realme GT 7 Pro, which debuted in India in November 2024, and unveil a number of gaming-oriented features designed for Indian gamers.
A teaser image posted by the company confirms that the Realme GT 7 is BGMI compatible with up to six hours of uninterrupted continuous use at 120 FPS, providing a smooth and lag-free gaming experience.
The Indian version of the Realme GT 7 is expected to have most of the Chinese model’s specifications. However, minor differences like variations in battery capacity may be observed, just like the modifications made in the Realme GT 7 Pro between the Chinese and Indian variants.
