Viral Excapes: Coffee, Coorg & German Comfort

The BMW X7 makes an entrance with illuminated grilles and commanding presence.

Let’s be honest; we’ve all flirted with burnout. Meetings stacked like Jenga blocks, screen time that sears your soul, and a lifestyle that’s 5G but constantly buffering. So, when life gets too loud, you don’t just take a break, you eject. And what better way to disconnect than in luxuriously capable cars designed for the future, such as the BMW i7 and the BMW X7, which can tame any road while carrying six passengers in comfort, embodying Bavaria’s idea of a luxury fortress on wheels?

The X7 is big, bold, and blessed with two captain’s seats in the second row that are far superior to the competition. Even the third row in this luxury SUV is surprisingly comfortable. Pair that with the technological tour de force spaceship that is the i7, and you’ve got two of the best cars to be driven in in the country. Period.

Together, they are the yin and yang of luxury travel: one, assertive and authoritative; the other, gliding like a whisper through space and time. The perfect rolling retreats for our latest Viral Excape to the coffee-soaked calm of Coorg, to get spoiled in luxurious private villas, amidst the sounds of nature.

First Impressions: Swipe Right on the X7

    BMW-Viral-Excapes-4
From broken gravel roads to lush estates, the X7 conquered Elkhill like no other luxury SUV before.

The BMW X7 doesn’t arrive—it makes an entrance. When it rolled into Bengaluru airport to pick us up, it looked like it had just stepped off a ramp in Milan. With its illuminated kidney grille and glistening 21-inch wheels, this thing doesn’t whisper luxury, it shouts it. I walked toward it like a man approaching redemption. Slid into the back seat. Pushed the button. Reclined. And just like that, reality was cancelled. With the comfy captain’s chair electronically reclined, the Sky Lounge turned the cabin into a well-behaved nightclub, and the Harman Kardon audio system politely offered to play the soundtrack to my escapism.
But while the X7 plays the indulgent SUV king, the BMW i7 is something else entirely…

Enter the i7: Serenity in Motion

    BMW-Viral-Excapes-2
The BMW i7 glides in near silence — luxury, redefined for the electric age.

…It doesn’t roar. It arrives in near silence, and the silence continues on the inside with a cabin so quiet, your thoughts get louder before they eventually slow down.

The interior of the i7 is an experience that’s curated for the senses. Reclining rear seats with massage function melt away deadlines. The BMW Theatre Screen drops down — a massive 31.3-inch 8K display with surround sound that turns the rear cabin into a private cinema. You don’t just escape the city — you leave the planet. If the X7 is a luxurious fortress, the i7 is a floating Zen pod with a PhD in hospitality. Every material, every surface, every interaction is designed to soothe.

The Highway Hypnosis: NH275, But Make It Luxury

    BMW-Viral-Excapes-9
Music wasn’t just heard, it wrapped around us — the soundscape of an escape.

With friends Mohit Malhotra, Shivani Singh, Ekta Maru, and ‘Abix’ Abhinav Mathur on board, NH275 became less a highway and more a serotonin-laced runway. Coconut trees bowed, paddy fields danced, and the weather played stylist to the scenery.

The X7’s air suspension glided over India’s road imperfections like it had diplomatic immunity. Meanwhile, the i7, with its near-silent electric glide, floated ahead — its occupants reclined in cinema-mode bliss, the world outside reduced to a slow-moving art gallery.

What truly tied both cars together? The sound. Not just speakers, but sensations. Whether you were in the X7’s acoustic sanctuary or the i7’s private theatre screen, music wasn’t just heard — it wrapped around you, stirred memory, and softened time. Think goosebumps on the spine when a note hits just right, or that stillness after a perfectly placed lyric. That’s how we knew we were no longer just passengers — we were part of a carefully scored experience.

    Destination Reset: Evolve Back Coorg

    BMW-Viral-Excapes-6
Captain’s seats in the X7 turn every drive into a business-class experience.

If the two Bimmers were moving spas, Evolve Back Coorg would be the ultimate exhale. Tucked into 300 acres of lush green therapy, we were going to stay at the resort’s Lily Pool Villas which came with private pools, personal butlers, and enough silence to make you believe in soul detox. The check-in experience was one of old-school luxury, complete with garlands, warm towels, welcome drinks, and a coffee shot called ‘chickoo’, all accompanied by staff who smiled as if they knew your coffee order in advance. By now, we weren’t talking like influencers. We were whispering like monks. Soon, our feet dipped in the pool, with coffee on the mind and shoulders relaxing into their sockets, the kind of realignment chiropractors dream of.

    The Quest for Bean Therapy

    BMW-Viral-Excapes-3
Evolve Back Coorg — 300 acres of pure soul detox and private villa indulgence.

You’d think coffee in Coorg would be easy to find. But no. We went full Indiana Jones. We jumped into a rugged, safari-ready 4×4 and climbed toward Elkhill Estate, which sounds like a premium whisky but is actually a 2,500-acre caffeine kingdom. The roads got steeper. Fog rolled in like a Netflix intro. And then, there it was freshly brewed Arabica and Robusta, served with a view so surreal it needed a soundtrack.
We convinced the folks at Evolve Back that the X7 could reach the top, and with its capable tyres (not low-profile, as you would expect), and it did. It was a first for them to have any luxury SUV reach the top. The roads were broken, full of gravel, but the X7 conquered them with us smiling inside. “This,” I announced, holding my cup aloft, “is bean therapy. Arabica, if you’re poetic. Robusta if you’re bootstrapped.” The group nodded in agreement, sipping silently. Sometimes, even influencers run out of captions. Evolve Back had organised a surprise “Aam Raas” party with a few snacks, but the view made it delicious. Having mango juice amidst a coffee estate hits you differently.

Culture, Calm & Crystal Volume Dials

    BMW-Viral-Excapes-5
Reclining seats, massage functions, and the massive 31.3-inch Theatre Screen — serenity on wheels.

Post-coffee, we headed to the Sidapur Coffee & Culture Museum, a beautifully restored smokehouse now packed with stories, tools, and a legacy that evokes the scent of roasted nostalgia. The attention to detail here was very BMW; everything mattered, every object had a backstory. Later that evening, we indulged in Ayurvedic therapy, including warm oils, herbal steam, and a playlist to aid our breathing. And just when our bodies said “thank you”, dinner happened. Not just any dinner. A treehouse feast at The Machan, with candlelight, local cuisine, and altitude that made every bite feel earned.

    Back to the Bimmers

    BMW-Viral-Excapes-7
In the i7 and X7, the music wasn’t played — it was felt, etched into memory.

Morning brought birdsong, pool dips, filter coffee, and that gentle anxiety that creeps in when a trip ends but your soul wants to stay behind. As we loaded up the cars, I instinctively reached for the X7’s back seat. This time, Abix beat me to it. “Not today,” he grinned. Shivani had already taken the i7’s driver’s seat like a throne. I didn’t mind, because some journeys aren’t about the drive. They’re about what happens between friends, in the silence, and through your favourite music — shared in good company and designed to lift your mood. And in cars like these, the music isn’t just played — it’s felt. The Harman Kardon surround sound system wraps around you, rising and falling like your breath, echoing every mood and memory. In those moments, we realised — the road may end, but this feeling will stay with us for a long time to come.

    BMW-Viral-Excapes-8
BMW i7 and X7 — the yin and yang of modern luxury travel.

This Viral Excape taught me that coffee isn’t just a beverage — it’s a religion. That Coorg isn’t a destination — it’s a mood. And that BMW’s finest luxury cars, the X7 and the i7, aren’t simply a means of travel — they’re literal therapists on the road. Most of all, it taught me that true productivity often begins with a pause. Sometimes, the best thing you can do for your brain is to take your body somewhere beautiful, your soul somewhere quiet, and if you can, let the luxurious rear seat of BMW’s flagship SUV, or sedan, carry the rest. Get on to it immediately. Plan that Excape.
