Best Monsoon Fashion: Your guide to tackling the rains

The much-awaited monsoon provides respite from the blazing heat of the summer, but the
sudden rains can put your favourite clothes at the risk of getting dirty and play spoilsport for
your fashion game. Muddy streets, heavy downpours, and the cold breeze can stop you from
loving this season and dressing up, but this rainy season, you can bust the fashion myths by
following these guidelines and effortlessly enjoy the rains without worrying about your
clothes!

1) Say Hi to Light Fabrics– It is advisable to wear light fabrics that will dry overnight and
won’t catch an odour. Wearing jeans or tight-fitted trousers can feel uncomfortable and take
forever to dry. Include A-line dresses, maxi skirts, shorts, and culottes to avoid muddling in
the puddle!

2) Choose Bright colours – Monsoon is the perfect time for you to play around with bright
colours and avoid wearing transparent colours like beige and white. Bright colours are not seen-
through and will make you stand out in bright pops in grey and dull surroundings. Wearing
statement shades might be the jolt of happiness you need to endure the unforgiving rains!

3) Take note of Accessorizing and Layering– Bright scarves, crossbody bags, sunglasses, or a
dark overcoat will help you make a bold statement and keep you safe from rain splashes. Fun
waterproof accessories like neon raincoats, translucent trench coats, printed scarves, Vinyl
handbags, and totes- win-win, fellas!

4) The shorter, the better– Short clothes will help you not be bothered about splashing mud all
over your clothes and getting them untidy and sticky. Wearing rompers, playsuits, and
cropped pants will be comfortable and make you look ravishing. Good shorts and ankle-
length bottoms are necessary to avoid spit and spatter. Nobody wants muddy hems!

5) Opt for Quirky Umbrellas– Ditch the boring black umbrellas and indulge in vibrant and
colourful ones. Umbrellas can be a statement fashion accessory and will save you from getting
drenched and up your style quotient. Solid colours, polka dots, prints, florals, or frills-quirky
umbrellas will make you monsoon-ready!

How to protect your privacy in a digital era

In an increasingly digitized world, protecting one’s privacy may, essentially, be an impossible task. It is no longer a mystery that we are being watched with every move we make on the internet. As small and accessible as our worlds are now, it comes at the cost of losing autonomy over who has access to our private information and what they do with it. So, how do you reap the benefits of a technologically advanced planet while ensuring that you are safeguarding sensitive information, sufficient downtime, and your sanity? WhatsApp is a popular internet-based text and voice messaging service with over two billion users worldwide. It is possible to use their privacy features to minimise visibility and disruptions.

Open WhatsApp, go to Settings, tap Account, and then Privacy to customize who has access to your ‘Last Seen’, ‘Status’ and who is allowed to add you to WhatsApp groups. You can block or report contacts by clicking on the contact name and scrolling all the way down and tapping Block Contact or Report Contact. Instagram is a popular social networking and photo-sharing app that allows you to connect with celebrities, brands, family and friends. There are multiple ways that you can be discreet on Instagram.

You can change the settings to make your account private thereby controlling who has access to your photos and videos. You can do this by going to Settings, Privacy and then tapping next to Private Account. You can block users by tapping on their username, scrolling all the way down and tapping on BlockIf what you really need is a break from social media then you can temporarily disable your Instagram account by logging onto www.instagram.com, clicking on your profile and tapping on Edit Profile. You can scroll down and connect Temporarily Deactivate Account

These privacy considerations are the bare minimum in times when the fear of losing oneself to the peculiar ways of the internet is looming large. As users become more vigilant, there will be a need for more intricate privacy settings such as time-specific visibility on social media and instant messaging applications.

Nothing Phone (1) breaks cover in a new Black colourway with leaked official renders with new details on specs

With the Nothing Phone (1) set to launch on July 12, new leaked official renders by Twitter user Roland Quandt reveal the Phone (1) in a stunning new black colour, in stark contrast to the previously revealed white in press images and the exclusive hands-on by MKBHD, as well as Nothing themselves on their own YouTube channel. Images with the all-new Glyph interface, as the London-based startup calls it, on and off are shown.

The new Glyph interface is to be not only aesthetic but also tied to the core functions of the phone. For example, the bottom ‘!’ shaped arrangement serves as a charging indicator for the battery level while charging. Furthermore, the lights along the perimeter of the wireless charging coil indicate wireless or reverse wireless charging.

The rest of the lights work together to offer a massively improved solution to a regular smartphone flash, which often looks unnatural and hinders quality. Instead, the back of the phone is roughly evenly lit and what is described to be fairly bright to aid this for closer subjects. Needless to say, there is still a regular flash.

Funnily enough, the flashiest feature of the new Glyph interface has to be the ringtones. The ringtones available are pretty eccentric and unique thus far, each associated with a certain light pattern.

Leaked Specifications

Another Twitter user and tipster Yogesh Brar, the Nothing Phone (1) will be powered by not the new Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 as previously thought, but the well appraised Snapdragon 778G featured on phones such as the Galaxy A73 and M52, amongst others including the iQOO Z6 Pro.

Brar also added that the Phone (1) is expected to come with up to 8GB RAM and a 4500mAh cell supporting up to 45W charging. The 6.55-inch display confirmed earlier is now speculated to refresh up to 120hz. With ambiguity earlier on the rear two cameras, we now know the main sensor will be a 50MP one, and the ultra-wide will be 16MP. The punch-hole selfie camera will also be 16MP although a different sensor.

Launch and Release

Although we do have an official date of July 12, the company has confirmed that the initial sales of the product will be on an invite-only basis, something similar to what OnePlus did back in 2014 with both efforts orchestrated by CEO and Founder Carl Pei. There is still no real confirmation on price, but going by the sub $500 price informed earlier, the phone would be competing directly head to head against the likes of the upcoming Pixel 6a, iPhone SE, Galaxy A53 amongst others.

Asus confirms IPX4 Splash Resistance for its new and upcoming ROG Phone 6

Asus’s ROG Global Account on Twitter recently tweeted a teaser for the upcoming ROG Phone 6, revealing that it would be the first gaming-oriented smartphone with a splash resistance rating. Furthermore, in the same tweet, they confirmed that there will be an announcement on the 5th of July.

Some further confirmed information for the upcoming excitement includes the confirmed Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 platform for some of the fastest graphics in any phone today. It is also confirmed from press images by Asus that the phone will come with a record-breaking 165hz AMOLED display on the 6.78-inch display. The phone with the new chip will feature an improved passive cooling system with better materials to dissipate heat more effectively.

The upcoming iteration of the ROG phone line has been certified by TENAA, a product certification website, and as such the Design and Specs of the phone have been published. The phone is said to feature up to 18GB of LPDDR5 RAM, as well as 512GB of storage with a 64MP Main camera unit as it was last year, but likely to be a bigger and better quality sensor.

On the front, the smartphone will be shipping with a 12MP Selfie shooter and continues to feature the massive 6000mAh battery. There has been no confirmation on the charging yet, however, we can expect the bypass charging feature and fast charging to carry forward, as well as some form of the iconic Anime Matrix display on the back of the phone.

With the recent rise in quality mobile gaming, motivated by the increasing number of players and rapid evolution of technology, the ROG phone has more people excited than ever before. The long chain of rumours and leaks will be put to rest a little over a week from now for the official reveal by Asus.

Google Launches ChromeOS 103 for Chromebooks: Top New Features

Back in CES 2022 in January, Google demonstrated new features to improve their “Better Together” ecosystem experience. Today, with the latest instalment of ChromeOS 103, users can finally experience features such as viewing the camera roll from your phone on your ChromeOS device through the Phone Hub interface, as well as Android’s reply to AirDrop, nearby-share to share Wi-Fi information between supported Google devices.

Beginning with the camera roll sharing, as it stands, the Phone Hub (pretty much the equivalent of the Your Phone app available on Microsoft’s Windows products) can allow the user to keep up with notifications sent to the phone, view recent Chrome tabs, and execute actions such as pinging the phone to locate it, turning on and off the hotspot, and changing the ringer settings on the android device.

Now, however, the application allows users to see their phone’s camera roll through the Chromebook. Sure, you might be thinking photos.google.com does the same thing? However, Google claims that this feature works completely offline as well. Tapping a photo will allow users to download the selected image to the Chromebook.

Google also announced Chromebook support for Google Fast Pair, which is a proprietary device pairing standard using Bluetooth Low Energy to enable the iconic “AirPods Pairing” window to make wireless accessories easier to use, but for a much larger range of devices that can be experienced on modern Bluetooth earphones and accessories on Android.

Furthermore, Google also claims that with the latest iteration of Nearby Share, “sharing is up to 10 times faster.” Finally, Nearby Share also adds a minor yet meaningful feature in the form of Wi-Fi credentials sharing, making sharing Wi-Fi passwords much faster and also much more secure between supported devices.

OnePlus 10T reportedly sports improved gaming performance

Likely launching next month in India, the OnePlus 10T has been spotted on Benchmark sites reportedly performing with the latest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 at the helm. Frame rates, along with operating temperature have been reported on Twitter by leaker Yogesh Brar, claiming that in the popular and graphically demanding game Genshin Impact, the newly identified OnePlus smartphone boasted 57FPS on average, at 43-46˚C on Extreme graphics settings. This is in comparison to the existing OnePlus 10 Pro which currently performs at 55FPS running at 45-49˚C. A common complaint with the 10 Pro is that the phone runs too hot. Although this is not entirely fixed, OnePlus has partially internalised this problem with the new chip.

Another leaker Mukul Sharma revealed that the OnePlus 10T is currently undergoing Research and Development testing in India, revealing variants with 8GB/128GB and12GB/256GB, attesting that 150W charging is quite likely. Two supposed finishes are a Green and Grey shade, while he further confirms that the smartphone will be offered as an upper mid-range device.

In other news, the smartphone is expected to come with a 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED panel with second-generation LTPO technology allowing the display to refresh between 1hz and 120hz. The phone might come with a 360hz touch sampling rate to improve responsiveness and gaming. On the back of the phone, the phone is rumoured to come with a triple camera setup yet again, with the now popular 50MP IMX766 sensor on the primary shooter, an 8MP sensor for the ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 2MP macro camera. The phone would feature anything between 4500-5000mAh battery as there is no real clarification on the same.

The Moto G62 is a mid-range offering from the Lenovo-based brand for about 20k INR. The phone features a slightly upsetting Snapdragon 480+. The phone comes in two colourways – Midnight Gray and Frosted Blue, shipping with a close-to-stock Android 12 experience of Moto’s MyUX.

Oppo Reno 8 Pro [Early July]

After the success of the Reno 7 Pro, the 8 Pro carries heavy excitement, and so far, it seems to be delivered. Along with a unique curved class camera module design, the phone will feature the MediaTek Dimensity 8100 Max with up to 12GB of RAM onboard. Furthermore, the phone will be packed with a 4500 mAh cell with up to 80W of fast charging. The phone is expected to be priced at about 35K INR and ship with RealmeUI over Android 12.

The Oppo Reno 8 is the younger sibling of the aforementioned 8 Pro, featuring a slightly clunkier display, featuring the MediaTek Dimensity 1300 instead, and up to 8GB RAM, with a 50MP primary shooter, but a disappointing dual 2MP setup for the Macro and Depth cameras. The phone will feature a 4500 mAh cell with their VOOC standard charging for up to 80W going from 0-100 in 26 minutes. The price of this phone is expected to be around 25k INR, 10K less than its Pro variant.

Windows 11: The New File Explorer is Lighter & Faster Than Ever

Amidst the big 22H2 update Microsoft is preparing for all Windows 11 users, the new file explorer has been tweaked. The new file explorer includes a tab system, improved aesthetics and multiple additional features.

The file explorer in Windows 11 makes it simple to find the files you need. File explorer is easily accessible via the taskbar or start menu or by pressing the Windows logo key + E on the keyboard. On Windows 11 File Explorer, the Quick Access folder is automatically replaced with the home folder.

The new tabs system allows you to multiply the pages without opening new ones. It’s not only convenient for the user, but it’s lighter on your computer. Each open tab uses just a few megabytes of RAM. You can increase the number of open windows without causing your computer to slow down. This new feature improves multitasking capabilities in Windows. The new toolbar comes with very simplified icons.

Jump List is a feature that allows users to quickly move to recently opened files, documents, and frequently used folders from the taskbar, Start menu, and File Explorer.

Many users will find the Windows 11 Jump List quite handy since it allows them to rapidly view a list of files that they have recently used or opened. Users may find these items in the Recommended section of the Start menu’s jump lists and Recent and Frequent in File Explorer.

In addition to the tabs, the new file explorer will include a redesigned and rectified banner on the left. The most frequently used folders will be highlighted automatically, and the presentation will be more straightforward, which is excellent news, given Explorer’s increased significance in Windows 11.

Metaverse- Future of the Internet

In late October last year, Facebook took to their Facebook Connect platform to share the next chapter for the multinational conglomerate by announcing its new name – Meta Platforms. The change in nomenclature is a direct result of their vision for playing a significant part in developing the Metaverse. Ever since, ‘Metaverse’ has been a hot topic and buzzword across social media, inspiring curiosity and awareness and noise and confusion. This begs the question – what exactly is the Metaverse?

The Metaverse enables a singular, highly interactive three-dimensional virtual reality where users can interact with objects and assets in that reality, where users can work, play, and create in unimaginable ways. The Metaverse, however, is often confused with Web 3.0, which refers more to the blockchain technology employed at a system level that completely revolutionizes the way we trade. Suffice to say; Web 3.0 will play a major role in the aspect of trade in the Metaverse itself, creating a completely decentralized mode of transaction for monetary values. This technology is said to be more secure, faster, and generally more ethical due to the fact that a central party does not affect the flow of currency. So what is Facebook’s (or Meta’s) role to play here?

Zuckerberg promises that the Metaverse is most certainly the “successor to mobile internet”, as said at the Connect conference. They aim to be the main catalysts of connecting applications and experiences into a singular virtual network that would help connect users from across the globe to interact.

Now that we know the Metaverse, the next logical question is: how do you get there? In collaboration with Reality Labs, Meta creates hardware and software to aid access to the Metaverse. Their latest product is the Oculus Quest 2, a Virtual Reality headset that allows users to enter the Metaverse and interact with the environment and other users. Meta has created “Horizon Home”, which is an embodiment of their vision for how a home in the Metaverse would look as a base point to start. In Meta’s version of the Metaverse, users have avatars that will be visible while interacting with other players. Horizon Home was our first glimpse at how users can interact with each other and objects in the Metaverse, and all eyes are on Meta for upcoming updates to this exciting new future ahead of us.

iPhone 14 to get the biggest front-facing camera hardware upgrade in years?

The upcoming iPhone 14 has gathered the world’s attention with its leaked refreshing new design on the front, although there is not much to be expected of the back. Apple is finally moving on from its longstanding notched display design, at least for the highest-end Pro variants.

However, recent leaks and developments have revealed what to expect on the inside of this new ‘i’ shaped design. Earlier in the year, the new iPhones were reported to be getting major camera improvements on the front and back modules. These reports are now further corroborated by reliable supply chain insider Ming-Chi Kuo, who states that Apple has gathered all of its suppliers for the new line-up of iPhones. Long story short, Apple has completely omitted Chinese camera manufacturers from their supply chain due to substandard quality by their metrics.

According to Kuo, the new front camera technology will be a massive leap from the previous generations, seeing the new specifications. First, Kuo predicts that the new front-facing shooters will finally ship with auto-focus, which was unavailable on the fixed-focus cameras used today. This will improve sharpness in photos and videos and low-light performance for the less well-lit situations.

The new module will also sport a 5-element lens versus the current 4-element arrangement, which would improve sharpness and clarity in photos and videos. Furthermore, the aperture will be wider, at f/1.9, compared to the f/2.2 aperture on the last three generations of iPhone.

Latest leaks and rumours on the iPhone 14

The Pro line-up for the 2022 range of iPhones has previously been tipped to finally move on from the 12-megapixel efforts on iPhones since the iPhone X to a 48-megapixel shooter, enabling the iPhone to finally shoot 8k video, keeping up with its modern Android rivals.

Contrary to the existing line-up of phones: iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max, the new range seems to be ditching the mini completely, in favour of a non-pro Max variant, i.e. the iPhone 14 Max, sporting the same tech as the vanilla 14, but with a larger size due to the disappointing outcomes of the 13 mini.

Some not-so-great news is that the vanilla 14 models (14 and 14 Max) will feature not the new and upcoming A16 but the existing A15 bionic SoC at the helm of the current generation of flagship iPhones, along with the iPhone SE and iPad mini. As powerful as the A15 is, it would be slightly upsetting to see the last generation SoC for a second year running.
