Smooth Sailing – WhatsApp’s Innovative QR Code Method for Effortless Data Transfer

WhatsApp has recently introduced an ingenious functionality to simplify the data transfer between devices. This innovative feature employs QR codes to transfer chat history, media, and settings seamlessly from one phone to another. Catering to both Android and iOS devices, this user-friendly functionality is gradually being made available to users across the globe.

To leverage this novel QR code-based transfer method, users are required to ensure that both their previous and new devices are powered on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Access WhatsApp on your old device and navigate to Settings > Chats > Chat transfer. At this stage, you will encounter a QR code that necessitates scanning for the transfer process to commence.

To complete the transfer successfully, simply scan the QR code utilizing your new phone. Once the scanning process is completed, the data transfer commences, which might take a few minutes, depending on the volume of data being transferred. Subsequently, users gain immediate access to their entire chat history, media files, and settings on their new phones.

The introduction of this QR code-based transfer method represents a significant enhancement compared to the previous approach, which involved creating a backup of the chat history and restoring it on the new device. This upgraded method offers multiple advantages, such as swiftness, simplicity, and reliability. Additionally, it prioritizes security by facilitating direct data transfer between devices, eliminating the involvement of intermediaries or reliance on third-party servers.

For individuals seeking to transfer their WhatsApp data to a new phone, this new QR code-based transfer method is undoubtedly the easiest and most secure option. By streamlining the process, WhatsApp continuously improves the user experience and reinforces its position as one of the foremost messaging platforms worldwide. WhatsApp users can expect to receive this new feature gradually, ensuring a seamless transition and effortless transfer of their treasured conversations and media when upgrading to a new device.

Snapchat hits new milestone with 750 million monthly active users

A couple of days ago, I heard two of my colleagues talking about the Snapchat streak, and that led me to install the app, and today, Snapchat hit a major milestone, crossing 750 million monthly active users. The achievement highlights the growing popularity of the social media platform, which was first launched in 2011.

Snapchat’s unique features, such as disappearing messages, filters, and lenses, have helped it stand out in a crowded social media market. It has also evolved to include new features such as Stories, Discover, and Snap Map, which have helped keep users engaged and interested in the platform.

Snapchat has also made efforts to attract new users and retain existing ones. The app has expanded its user base by targeting younger demographics with features like Bitmoji, allowing users to create and personalise their avatars and partnerships with popular celebrities and influencers.

The platform has also worked to improve its advertising capabilities, offering a range of ad formats and targeting options to advertisers. The COVID-19 pandemic has also played a role in Snapchat’s growth. Social media usage has increased across the board, with people spending more time at home and looking for ways to stay connected.

However, Snapchat still faces competition from other social media platforms, such as Instagram and TikTok, as they have features similar to those offered by Snapchat, such as Instagram Stories and TikTok’s filters and effects. To stay ahead of the game, Snapchat will need to continue innovating and offering unique experiences for its users.

Crossing 750 million monthly active users is a significant achievement for Snapchat. It demonstrates the platform’s ability to attract and retain a large, engaged user base. With its ongoing commitment to innovation and user experience, the platform is expected to reach 1 billion+ in the next 3 years.

Say goodbye to lengthy voice messages with WhatsApp’s new transcription feature

WhatsApp, the most widely used instant messaging app, is reportedly working on a new transcription feature that will allow users to transcribe lengthy voice messages into text. This new feature will be a game changer for those who struggle to keep up with the fast pace of voice messages, especially in group chats.

With the transcription feature, WhatsApp users will be able to quickly transcribe voice messages into text, making it easier to skim through the content and comprehend what has been said. This will be particularly useful in situations where it is not feasible to listen to voice messages, such as when the user is in a noisy environment or when they are busy and do not have time to listen to the message.

According to sources close to the development team, the transcription feature is being developed in response to user feedback and will use advanced machine learning algorithms to provide accurate and real-time transcriptions. This will be a major improvement over the current voice message feature, which does not offer a transcript of the message.

With the new feature, WhatsApp users will be able to access a text transcript of the voice message directly from the chat window, eliminating the need to pause or replay the message to catch what has been said. In addition, the text transcript will be searchable, making it easier for users to find specific information contained within the voice message.

WhatsApp has been working on improving the user experience in recent months, and this new transcription feature is just one of the many improvements that the company is planning to bring to the app. The company has not yet announced a release date for the feature in Android devices, but it has been spotted on WhatsApp iOS.

WhatsApp debuts paid plan for business users

WhatsApp has released a subscription service titled WhatsApp Premium and is currently available for beta business users. The instant messaging app has also been an effective way for businesses to communicate with its customers and the premium subscription is targetted only for business users. WhatsApp has not made an official statement about it yet so the pricing and the launch date of the same remains under the wraps. However, users who have enrolled in the beta program can take advantage of all the new features present in the new Premium model. The new plan was long under speculations and has only now been made available as a beta tester in some countries. A wider rollout is expected in some time. Check out the new features with WhatsApp Preimum service below:

WhatsApp Premium custom business links

The first feature in the WhatsApp Premium service is the business links. It is a short custom business link which is unique to a certain business. This link can be shared with customers to find the business’ landing page on WhatsApp thus making it easier to initiate a conversation. The link name is customizable and can be changed every 90 days. It expires once the subscription is cancelled. It is to be noted that once a custom link is expired, it may be claimed by another company. Any business having a custom link can make it easier for customers to reach out to them.

Multi-device connectivity

Another new feature under the WhatsApp Premium service is improved multi-device connectivity. Any business under WhatsApp Premium can use the same account on up to 10 devices simultaneously. This can prove helpful for businesses to form a chain of communication amongst multiple employees and the customer base. This feature can also allow Premium users to initiate video calls with max 32 participants.

The availability of WhatsApp Premium is currently scarce. It is currently available to only a certain business accounts under beta testing only. Details regarding its roll out in India have not yet surfaced on the internet. Users can unsubscribe from the service anytime they wish.

WhatsApp to roll out ‘Call Links’ feature soon

WhatsApp head Will Cathcart recently took to Twitter and announced that the messaging app will be introducing the ‘Call Links’ feature. In the tweet, the WhatsApp head revealed that users will now be able to join a call using just a link and will be available for both video and audio calls. The feature will be rolling out next week and you will be able to get on a video/audio call with your group of friends with a simple URL click.

WhatsApp Call Links

With the ‘Call Links’ feature, users will be able to simply tap the option and generate a link for the audio or video call. Users can then share the link easily with friends and family. Users need to note that they will require the latest version of WhatsApp to enable this feature. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that WhatsApp is testing a new feature of calling up to 32 people in one video call. A similar feature is available in audio calls right now however, not for video. It is evident that Meta is taking notes from Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and similar platforms with the ‘Call Links’ feature. Users should note that the call link will expire after 90 days of inactivity. Whereas, if a link is sent to someone who doesn’t have WhatsApp then they will be redirected to WhatsApp’s download page on either Google’s Playstore or Apple App Store.

WhatsApp right now is in a transitional phase where the platform is turning out to become much further than just a mere messaging app. It was last month the platform started testing out WhatsApp Communities, which is basically similar to Facebook’s Groups. The Communities feature allows an admin to create a community with multiple user groups. A benefit of the WhatsApp Communities over Facebook Groups is that they aren’t public and users need to have an invitation in order to join. It looks like WhatsApp is going to make major changes in the coming years to its overall user experience.

WhatsApp New Feature: Group Admin Will Be Able To Delete Members’ Messages

WhatsApp occasionally comes up with new features that engage its users and keep the platform safe. A recent update suggests that the social media app is getting a new feature that is exclusively for group administrators.  The admin of any group will now be able to remove any message sent by the members of his group.

The feature will be rolled out to users all around the world, but the company has not yet officially revealed the feature and that it is only available to beta testers. The members will be able to see that the administrator deleted the message, and you will be able to see the ‘You deleted this message as admin’ note after removing the sent text.

This feature is expected to allow group admins to moderate their group more effectively. WABetaInfo reports that the ‘admin delete’ feature is now rolling out with the WhatsApp beta for the Android 2.22.1.7 update.

Besides this, WhatsApp is reportedly working on a feature called ‘Kept Messages’, which will allow you to keep the disappearing message by converting it to a standard message.

Get ready to react to WhatsApp messages with any emoji of your choice

WhatsApp launched the message reaction feature a few months ago, which works similarly to how Facebook’s reactions work. The feature is very convenient as it saves time and appears like a LIKE control of Instagram, showing how many people reacted to your message.

You must be familiar with the reaction feature by the time, but if you haven’t explored it yet, then just long-press on a WhatsApp message and select the emoji you want to react with. However, there are only six pre-chosen emoji options to respond to, and they are obviously not enough.

In a world of social media, where emojis play an enormous role, and most people prefer emojis over text, having six emoji options to react was already a dying feature. Since its inception, people have been demanding to have more number of reaction emojis, and finally, WhatsApp has responded.

In a recently shared tweet on the official profile of WhatsApp, the company has promised to come up with an additional number of emojis to react to the message. WhatsApp will soon roll out the feature for iOS and Android users.

The already tiny feature is going to create a wave of happiness among WhatsApp users, and we’re guessing a lot of the users will love it. According to WhatsApp, the rollout process will take a few days to reach all the devices using WhatsApp.

Along with the additional emoji reactions, the company has recently doubled the maximum number of participants allowed in a group chat – from 256 to 512 people. The feature is already rolled out on the latest version of WhatsApp. Update your WhatsApp app from the respective stores to enjoy all the recently added features.

WhatsApp Double Verification Feature Coming Soon

With WhatsApp operating at a massive scale, providing services to over 2 million users worldwide. The Meta powered platform has simultaneously connected families and friends from across the globe, while unwittingly creating a hub for scammers and fraudulent schemes to promote and execute their malpractice.

As reported in an article by WhatsApp Beta trackers WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is taking steps towards ensuring greater safety and security on the platform through the implementation of a “double verification feature” during login, in an endeavour to add an extra layer of security to prevent scammers and phishers from stealing these accounts.

According to research conducted by WABetaInfo, the largest means of WhatsApp accounts being stolen are not through traditional “hacking” methods, but instead through social engineering, and tricking users into giving up essential information – mainly the 6-digit OTP (One-Time-Passcode) required for 2-factor authentication, which gives the scammer access to your WhatsApp account through manipulation, hence giving up this 6-digit code.

So, how exactly does the Double Verification Feature work? It’s simple.

First, as the scammer attempts to login to your WhatsApp, a 6-digit code will be sent as an OTP, as it does currently. However, to avoid vulnerable victims simply giving this one code away and awarding access to the tricksters, another code is sent, after which the user is notified that another device is currently attempting to log into their account, hence alerting them of the scam, and the user will be well informed to discharge the situation and retain their privacy and security.

WhatsApp to stop its functions in some iPhones. Check Details

WhatsApp, a popular messaging application from Meta, has decided to stop its functions on some iPhones. The last date till WhatsApp will work on iPhones is 24th Oct 2022. WhatsApp will withdraw its support from iOS 10 and iOS 11. To continue using WhatsApp, users will have to upgrade to a new phone or the current operating system.

A minimum of iOS 12 will be needed to use WhatsApp on iPhones. This is done to introduce new features to give the users a better experience, which may not work in the older operating systems. Updating to the more recent version of an operating system is essential because they generally provide the user with the most up-to-date software patches and security features.

iPhones that will be affected:
iPhone 5
iPhone 5C

As per a new report from WABetaInfo, Apple is notifying some iPhone customers that WhatsApp support is ending. Although WhatsApp plans to stop support for select iPhone models, that is not likely to have an effect on many customers. This is due to the fact that support for very old iPhone models, which are probably to be used by a small range of customers at this time, will be discontinued.

If you are using an iPhone, first make sure that the operating software on your phone is the latest one. To check this, go to the Settings menu > About > Software update to see if your iPhone is running the latest software.

BMC Launched WhatsApp Chatbot to Make Citizens Life Easier than Ever

Nobody desires to go out these days, and you know why, but what if you want to renew your license or ask for permission for festivals or register a complaint? You must have to get out, right? Until last Friday, we didn’t have an option, but now we have a platform to do all of these things online, at least in Mumbai, where BMC (BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation) launched a WhatsApp chatbot to digitize citizen engagement.

Last Friday, Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray launched a dedicated WhatsApp chatbot – MyBMC Assist – and became India’s first city administration to launch a helpline on WhatsApp. Well, they said it right – Politicians and ruling bodies never disappoint you whenever the elections are nearby, and BMC is no different. Nevertheless, whatever it is, it will surely help Mumbai residents, especially during these hard to go out times.

The Chatbot has been developed by Infobip technologies and is available for free. It will provide information about over 80 services/facilities provided by the civic body and allow people to use WhatsApp to reach out to the administration. Mumbai Residents and tourists can directly avail themselves of the benefits of Chatbot services through WhatsApp number 8999228999. The services are available in two languages, English and Marathi.

WhatsApp is the most widely used application, and by launching such services through WhatsApp, BMS has done a tremendous job. To access the bot, WhatsApp users simply need to send ‘Hi’ or ‘Namaste’ to the number https://wa.me/918999228999. While launching the application virtually, CM Uddhav Thackeray praised the civic body and said, “This day is written in golden letters. It can be described as a revolutionary day.”
