Big launches are seemingly brewing in Cupertino, even as a report is claiming that new Macs will be introduced by Apple this October. These will include M4-equipped Mac Minis that are even smaller in size than before, as well as M4 versions of MacBook Pro laptops. All these products are expected to go on sale from November 1 onwards.
This latest piece of news comes from Bloomberg’s Mike Gurman, whose Power On newsletter has always had a good track record of predicting Apple’s next moves. Gurman has said before that the new Mac Minis will have a smaller footprint compared to their predecessors, making them about the same size as the Apple TV. These Mac Mini will apparently be offered in both M4 and M4 Pro configurations and feature USB Type-C ports and an HDMI port.
At its late-October event, Apple may also announce M4 versions of the base 14-inch MacBook Pro, aside from higher-end MacBook Pros with 14-inch and 16-inch displays. A refreshed version of the iMac with M4 at its heart is also on the menu, and so is a new version of the iPad Mini that has had to do without an update since 2021.
But this is not all. Apple will continue its launch spree into 2025, with lots of new hardware expected to be unveiled in the first half of the year. These will be headlined by the iPhone SE 4, which has been in the news a lot lately. There’s word that it might get pricier than its predecessor owing to the adoption of the Apple A17 Pro chip and 8GB worth of RAM that’ll allow it to provide Apple Intelligence support.
Other products that might get unveiled at the said event include 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models with M4 chips, refreshed 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Air models, and new Magic Keyboards for the updated iPad Air models. Amongst all this, Apple could also debut a new AirTag early next year.
Gurman, in his newsletter, has even provided an update on how the rollout of Apple Intelligence could take place. October 28 is when he expects it to arrive via the iOS 18.1 update. This version could include stuff like notification summaries, Image Playground, and automated email filing, but it’s only in the iOS 18.2 update that ChatGPT integration and support for Genmoji will be added. The upgraded Siri experience though, is planned for iOS 18.4, which could land in March next year.
