At the heart of IIT Bombay every December, a remarkable cultural transformation unfolds, Mood Indigo, Asia’s largest college cultural festival. More than just concerts and international showcases, Mood Indigo champions something equally powerful: a vibrant creative culture that allows India’s youth to express themselves through music, fashion, theatre, and lifestyle. The festival is a celebration of imagination, meticulously built by students who transform their campus into a world-stage of art and energy.
A Legacy of Icons & Unforgettable Nights
Over the decades, Mood Indigo has built a reputation as the festival where the biggest names meet the brightest youth. Its grand stages have been illuminated by legendary performers like Sonu Nigam, Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy, Amit Trivedi, Sunidhi Chauhan, Vishal–Shekhar, Mohit Chauhan, and Salim–Sulaiman, making every night a euphoric spectacle for thousands. At the same time, some of the most celebrated international artists have brought global energy to IIT Bombay, including Simple Plan, Pink Sweat$, MAGIC!, Porcupine Tree, Jay Sean, Karnivool, and Sander van Doorn, several of whom made their India debuts at Mood Indigo.
Mood Indigo isn’t only about stunning performances, it also drives conversation and inspiration. Through prominent speaker events such as Eloquence, the festival has hosted India’s most influential voices, from Deepika Padukone, Aamir Khan, Abhishek Bachchan and Manoj Bajpayee to Shashi Tharoor, Smriti Irani, Narayan Murthy, Piyush Goyal, and Pankaj Tripathi, making it a powerhouse of culture and perspective. Every year, the festival continues to raise the bar by introducing fresh global art forms and creating once-in-a-lifetime moments that remain part of the country’s most cherished college memories.

The Runway That Built Icons
Mood Indigo’s legacy in fashion comes alive on its most glamorous arena, the festival’s signature fashion showcase, Vogue. It is where future stars first step into the spotlight, celebrated by packed auditoriums and industry recognition. With top creative judges such as Shantanu Maheshwari, Melvin Louis, and Chang associated with Mood Indigo’s major performance and fashion events, the showcase captures the ambition, confidence, and charisma of India’s young fashion leaders.
Fashion at Mood Indigo, however, doesn’t confine itself to the runway, the campus itself becomes a style-forward world. The Lifestyle category encourages bold experimentation, including Trashion, a high-energy event where discarded materials transform into couture-level outfits, redefining beauty with sustainability. A popular crowd favorite, She’s Got The Look, highlights personal confidence, posing prowess, and self-expression, allowing participants to showcase individuality beyond traditional fashion norms. With flea markets buzzing with indie designers, live styling corners, and students flaunting everything from avant-garde fits to street chic comfort, style becomes the most celebrated language on campus.
