Metaverse- Future of the Internet

In late October last year, Facebook took to their Facebook Connect platform to share the next chapter for the multinational conglomerate by announcing its new name – Meta Platforms. The change in nomenclature is a direct result of their vision for playing a significant part in developing the Metaverse. Ever since, ‘Metaverse’ has been a hot topic and buzzword across social media, inspiring curiosity and awareness and noise and confusion. This begs the question – what exactly is the Metaverse?

The Metaverse enables a singular, highly interactive three-dimensional virtual reality where users can interact with objects and assets in that reality, where users can work, play, and create in unimaginable ways. The Metaverse, however, is often confused with Web 3.0, which refers more to the blockchain technology employed at a system level that completely revolutionizes the way we trade. Suffice to say; Web 3.0 will play a major role in the aspect of trade in the Metaverse itself, creating a completely decentralized mode of transaction for monetary values. This technology is said to be more secure, faster, and generally more ethical due to the fact that a central party does not affect the flow of currency. So what is Facebook’s (or Meta’s) role to play here?

Zuckerberg promises that the Metaverse is most certainly the “successor to mobile internet”, as said at the Connect conference. They aim to be the main catalysts of connecting applications and experiences into a singular virtual network that would help connect users from across the globe to interact.

Now that we know the Metaverse, the next logical question is: how do you get there? In collaboration with Reality Labs, Meta creates hardware and software to aid access to the Metaverse. Their latest product is the Oculus Quest 2, a Virtual Reality headset that allows users to enter the Metaverse and interact with the environment and other users. Meta has created “Horizon Home”, which is an embodiment of their vision for how a home in the Metaverse would look as a base point to start. In Meta’s version of the Metaverse, users have avatars that will be visible while interacting with other players. Horizon Home was our first glimpse at how users can interact with each other and objects in the Metaverse, and all eyes are on Meta for upcoming updates to this exciting new future ahead of us.

The Biggest Upcoming Technologies of 2022

The beginning of every New Year is no doubt exciting for a variety of reasons. However, among these reasons, is the unveiling of new technologies. This unique opportunity creates a unique platform for companies far and wide to introduce what they will be working to launch in the upcoming year. It also provides each company a unique look into what their competitors are trying to get out there.

Whether you use this platform just as an observer or a competitor, it is hard not to be left oohed and awed by some of these technological adventures. Here is just a shortlist of some of the most exciting things tech companies are working toward this New Year.

3D Home Printing

Could the old methods of home-building be about to change forever? What if you could do away with your hardhat and toolbelt and wear a suit and tie while carrying a briefcase to work every day? This might not be a sacrifice everyone is willing to make, but 3D home printing technology could forever change the world of homebuilding. You’d be surprised at just how applicable it is to feed concrete, sand, and plastics into massive 3D printers.

You might be surprised by this, but you likely be even more surprised at how cost affordable this solution is. It might end up even being less costly than the older, traditional ways of building homes. There is, however, one thing still holding the industry back. That is the lack of infrastructure to transport printing materials to parts of the world where they would be most impactful.

Self-Fertilizing Crops

When you look at all the wealth in the world, it is almost hard to believe that there are still suffering and struggling out there. Indeed, there are entire countries and regions of the world lacking, but it just seems like some people have so much. Not only this, but you combine all this excess with the waste that goes on today, and the fact that there is one starving person in the world seems kind of ludicrous. That might be about to change. And it won’t have anything to do with less spending or less wasting.

It will be thanks to self-fertilizing crops. Most people just don’t realize how harmful current farming practices are. With the use of massive commercial fertilizers, nitrogen and other harmful chemicals are just eating away at the earth daily. Nitrogen is a highly used crop production chemical that accounts for 1 to 2 percent of yearly, global carbon dioxide emissions.

While nitrogen has proven to be an effective fertilizer, it is also doing untold harm to the world.

A world that is in limited supply. Soy plants and members of the legume family like peas and lentils might be about to transform the entire industry. Scientists are already immediately working on getting corn and other cereals to self-fertilize.

Advancement Of Cryptocurrencies

Cryptocurrencies have been a slowly trudging technology that’s for the most part stayed on the fringes of mainstream finances. Consumers have seen this shift a bit in the online sports betting market. So, it is possible to play สล็อตแตกง่าย ฝากถอน ไม่มีขั้นต่ำ with specific digital currencies.

There are now a few online platforms willing to accept and payout in cryptocurrencies. Some e-commerce sites also accept digital currencies.

El Salvador has just recently become the first country in Central America to make Bitcoin the most popular cryptocurrency in the world.

Sweden, Canada, The European Union, and The United Kingdom are already a few of the global leading giants that are considering implementing financial changes. Unfortunately, there are some still not embracing this digital currency and all the potential it offers, but that could possibly change in 2022. It is the concerns and potential risks for digital fraud in countries like China, Bangladesh, Qatar, Egypt, and Morocco that have been deterring many.

Anti-Aging Drugs

Who doesn’t want to stay looking and feeling like a teenager? It seems these hopes and dreams might come to fruition in the upcoming years. At least the part about looking like a teenager.

While there are plenty of exciting and ground-breaking things going on in modern medicine, it seems that anti-aging medications are the exclusive talk of the town.

The first wave of new class anti-ageing drugs has already been shipped out and implemented in controlled testing environments. While these medications are not yet designed to make one live longer, they remove certain cells that accumulate during the aging process.

Android vs iOS. Who Outperforms Who?

At least once in your life, you have run into a conversation that poses a comparison between Android and iOS. While we are all aware that Google’s Android offers a more open platform, choice, versatility, and customization, there must be something that keeps the users hooked to the iOS devices. The fight between Android vs iOS will never have a real winner. However, we might help you find your pick.

The latest versions of both the operating systems – iOS 15 and Android 12, are pretty excellent but in different ways. Many of the features, such as swiping, and zooming in and out, overlap, but both have a different design, except for the basic touch-screen layout. You need to know the strength of both these operating systems to get a clear picture of which smartphone to invest in. Currently, the flagship smartphones of both these OS are Google Pixel 6 and iPhone 13.

Android 12 vs iOS 15

Both Android and iOS are unique, with similar features and layouts. We will list them all on some parameters, and the OS that ticks more boxes becomes the winner.

Personalization

With its design and layout, Google has taken this one right off the bat. From layout to wallpaper changes, Android 12 adapts to everything, from wallpaper changes to layout, and the notification panel, which can be customized to make the phone your own.

iOS, on the other hand, gets some degree of customizability but gets outperformed by Android 12. You can not have a blank home screen on an iPhone, and it’s a little disappointing.

I think Apple does excellently by giving notifications a needed facelift in iOS 15, with bigger app icons and contact photos for conversation notifications.

Fluidity

Both the operating systems are quite fluid and stable as far as the overall performance is concerned. With Android 12, the calculator looks updated with new angles, new Google apps, and standard apps like Settings, Privacy, and Games.

With iOS 15, the flagship browser Safari has been redesigned with the address bar at the bottom, closer to the keyboard, refined notifications, and App Library. All the apps have well-rounded corners and a pie-chart-like display of various stats. The apps on iOS 15 seem to work on a similar template and come with a certain level of polish.

Google is trying to catch up on a similar level of consistency with Android, but iOS wins the race for now.

Updates

Apple is known for its better update timeline since iOS rolls out updates on the same date for every device without discrimination. Whether it is the iPhone 6 or iPhone 13, all the phones will get the same update simultaneously.

On the contrary, Android smartphone makers schedule updates according to their priorities and do not sync with Google. This is because most smartphone brands put their flavours to the Android version and are tweaked for the next update.

While iOS 15 rolled the updates for all the devices at once, Android 12 makes you wait for the OEM to provide the update, and that can take months. iOS is a clear winner here.

Gaming

Android 12 has come up with some exciting features for gamers. The ‘play as you download’ feature lets the user play games while other assets are being downloaded in the background. Also, there are added features like quick toggles in its Game Dashboard that let you take screenshots and toggle DND. Android devices have a larger collection of games as compared to iOS.

On iOS 15, everything revolves around the App Store and Apple Arcade. You get a dedicated Focus Mode for games and a game centre for the multiplayer experience; however, there are no console-quality games despite the powerful chipset that iPhone comes with.

Bloatware

Apple has the upper hand because Google doesn’t decide on pre-loaded apps on every Android phone. While the Pixel lineup and a few other high-end smartphones have decent pre-loaded apps, it is not the same for every Android smartphone, for they are loaded with bloatware.

iOS 15 lets you delete whatever you want from your smartphone, but Android 12 wouldn’t let you do the same. Few apps can be a potential privacy threat to your data.

Conclusion

iOS and Android are the two most popular mobile operating systems around the world. What makes iOS different from Android is that you can get a lot of variations of Android depending upon the OEMs, but there’s only one version of iOS throughout every iPhone lineup. Apple excels in consistency.

It isn’t easy to judge both these operating systems and pick out the best but let’s say that while Android beats iOS in customizability, iOS covers the road of longevity more than Android.

iPhone 14 to get the biggest front-facing camera hardware upgrade in years?

The upcoming iPhone 14 has gathered the world’s attention with its leaked refreshing new design on the front, although there is not much to be expected of the back. Apple is finally moving on from its longstanding notched display design, at least for the highest-end Pro variants.

However, recent leaks and developments have revealed what to expect on the inside of this new ‘i’ shaped design. Earlier in the year, the new iPhones were reported to be getting major camera improvements on the front and back modules. These reports are now further corroborated by reliable supply chain insider Ming-Chi Kuo, who states that Apple has gathered all of its suppliers for the new line-up of iPhones. Long story short, Apple has completely omitted Chinese camera manufacturers from their supply chain due to substandard quality by their metrics.

According to Kuo, the new front camera technology will be a massive leap from the previous generations, seeing the new specifications. First, Kuo predicts that the new front-facing shooters will finally ship with auto-focus, which was unavailable on the fixed-focus cameras used today. This will improve sharpness in photos and videos and low-light performance for the less well-lit situations.

The new module will also sport a 5-element lens versus the current 4-element arrangement, which would improve sharpness and clarity in photos and videos. Furthermore, the aperture will be wider, at f/1.9, compared to the f/2.2 aperture on the last three generations of iPhone.

Latest leaks and rumours on the iPhone 14

The Pro line-up for the 2022 range of iPhones has previously been tipped to finally move on from the 12-megapixel efforts on iPhones since the iPhone X to a 48-megapixel shooter, enabling the iPhone to finally shoot 8k video, keeping up with its modern Android rivals.

Contrary to the existing line-up of phones: iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max, the new range seems to be ditching the mini completely, in favour of a non-pro Max variant, i.e. the iPhone 14 Max, sporting the same tech as the vanilla 14, but with a larger size due to the disappointing outcomes of the 13 mini.

Some not-so-great news is that the vanilla 14 models (14 and 14 Max) will feature not the new and upcoming A16 but the existing A15 bionic SoC at the helm of the current generation of flagship iPhones, along with the iPhone SE and iPad mini. As powerful as the A15 is, it would be slightly upsetting to see the last generation SoC for a second year running.

Weird tech inventions that were way ahead of their time

Over the last few decades, we have seen many technological ideas walking into reality, thanks to the people who spent years on the concept and implemented it successfully. However, a few technological inventions (of course, the weird ones) were ahead of their time but were scrapped due to a lack of funds. Otherwise, you know! Okay, let’s take a quick look at such weird inventions.

Ergonomic Workstation

An ergonomic keyboard can change your typing experience as they are designed to provide more space for your wrist and forearm to sit in the middle of the keyboard. Now, imagine having an ergonomic workstation in your office which fits you in and offers the best comfort for you. Yes, we haven’t seen such an innovation in a regular office space. However, back in the day, designers created a figure-hugging chair, which had a built-in typewriter and even earphones with extendable aerials. Sounds cool, but in reality, you can’t sit on such a chair for an extended period.

Head-Mounted Display

We all are aware of the VR headsets, a heads-up display that allows users to interact with simulated environments and experience a first-person view but do you know it wasn’t discovered recently. Sony launched the Glasstron, a head-mounted display with dual LCD screens and earphones, in the mid-90s, which was quite ahead of its time, but at that time, it was very unexpected and weird.

Milk Made Clothes

We love the taste of milk, at least most of us, but have you ever thought about how many t-shirts you can make from milk you drink over a month. Well, not everyone has a mind to come up with out-of-the-box ideas, but in 2011, German fashion designer Anke Domaske unveiled a fabric called QMilch, made from the casein protein found in milk and takes about 6-litres of milk to make one t-shirt. Again, a creative innovation but way ahead of its time and, of course, weird.

Bra Dryer

The heat from the dryer can melt your undergarments, particularly bras. They are hard to clean and dry, especially with the washing machines, and that’s why handwash is highly recommended to cleanse the bras. Then in 2009, Alexander Farennikov created a Bra Dryer, which helps maintain your bra shape for months by using infrared light and airflow. The dryer takes only 20-30 minutes to dry your bra with infrared completely and evaporates any moisture in the padding and fabric.

Leonardo da Vinci’s tank

Leonardo da Vinci invented and discovered many things, including the parachute, an early helicopter and a fighting vehicle. All these high-level tech designs were created and developed in the 16th century by Leonardo da Vinci. The fighting vehicle was a modern tank inspired by a turtle’s shell, and it was designed to protect the occupants from enemy attacks. It was a visionary idea for the 16th century, but in the 21st century, it looks bizarre to roam on a battlefield with such a vehicle.

iOS 16 Not available for iPhone 7 or lower

In the recent WWDC 2022 event on June 6, Apple inc finally announced its iOS 16 update, which will be released in September 2022. Although this is excellent news for all the tech followers and smartphone enthusiasts, this is also bad news for some previous iPhone users.

https://twitter.com/AslanMarius/status/1533950503243096064?s=20&t=Xgp590wZ3lX5IWP2Je0ZPA

With iOS 16, Apple also announced that some devices wouldn’t be receiving these updates, specifically the iPhones starting from 7 Plus to the bottom will not be receiving these updates. The announcement shocked many people because the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus were released in September 2016, which isn’t a long time for smartphones not to receive further updates.

Like the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, iOS 16 is not to be released for the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus, among other devices. Following Apple’s WWDC event on June 6, iPhone 7 customers rushed to Twitter to voice their frustrations over the lack of an update for their phones.

Apple 15-inch MacBook Air, 12-inch MacBook reboot, and more in the pipelines for 2023

Apple’s current line-up of MacBooks with Apple Silicon is extremely powerful, ranging from the entry-level MacBook powered by the M1 to the Mac Studio super-powered by Apple’s M1 Ultra and the Cupertino-based tech giant is showing no signs of slowing down.

In a recent report by Mark Gurman at Bloomberg, his sources claim that a 14-inch MacBook Pro and its bigger 16-inch counterpart are on their way with the second generation M2 Pro and M2 Max chips, with up to 12 CPU cores and 38 GPU cores. The report also identifies a 15-inch MacBook Air by 2023. This would be ideal for users looking for a larger screen but not needing the overhead performance, not to mention heavy pricing on the 16-inch Pros.

Furthermore, Apple is also reportedly looking at reviving the 12-inch MacBook with Apple Silicon. This is said to be priced below the M1 MacBook Air’s $999, with the aim to attract more customers to the Mac with a more affordable and compact option. However, the last time Apple announced a 12-inch MacBook, it was plagued with performance issues, battery life, and heating – all of which were effectively resolved with the improvements in Apple’s in-house silicon. However, there would likely be a complete redesign to the problematic keyboard that resulted in several lawsuits against Apple, motivating them to change it for the last two generations of computers.

Nevertheless, the future of the Mac is exciting. As Apple exercises its liberty with the form factor and designs of its new computers, it will continue to keep the industry on its toes to stay competitive.

WhatsApp Double Verification Feature Coming Soon

With WhatsApp operating at a massive scale, providing services to over 2 million users worldwide. The Meta powered platform has simultaneously connected families and friends from across the globe, while unwittingly creating a hub for scammers and fraudulent schemes to promote and execute their malpractice.

As reported in an article by WhatsApp Beta trackers WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is taking steps towards ensuring greater safety and security on the platform through the implementation of a “double verification feature” during login, in an endeavour to add an extra layer of security to prevent scammers and phishers from stealing these accounts.

According to research conducted by WABetaInfo, the largest means of WhatsApp accounts being stolen are not through traditional “hacking” methods, but instead through social engineering, and tricking users into giving up essential information – mainly the 6-digit OTP (One-Time-Passcode) required for 2-factor authentication, which gives the scammer access to your WhatsApp account through manipulation, hence giving up this 6-digit code.

So, how exactly does the Double Verification Feature work? It’s simple.

First, as the scammer attempts to login to your WhatsApp, a 6-digit code will be sent as an OTP, as it does currently. However, to avoid vulnerable victims simply giving this one code away and awarding access to the tricksters, another code is sent, after which the user is notified that another device is currently attempting to log into their account, hence alerting them of the scam, and the user will be well informed to discharge the situation and retain their privacy and security.

Everything new in iPadOS 16

The iPad, iPad mini, and iPad Pro are Apple’s three iPad product lines. For tech products to thrive in the market, updates and changes are very important. Apple has done precisely that.

In the recent update, Apple Inc. introduced an entirely new multitasking experience with the Stage manager and full external display support, bringing in new ways to collaborate via the Messages app, significant updates to Mail and Safari, new apps and more.

Updates to Messages

The Messages application now has new capabilities that make it simple to collaborate and manage shared material across Apple-based applications like Files, Keynote, Pages, Notes, Reminders, Safari and other third-party applications. The document, spreadsheet, or project is automatically shared with all the members of the thread/group when users submit a collaboration invitation via Messages. Everyone will also be able to see live updates to a shared file right at the top of the Messages thread when someone modifies.

In addition to the improved collaboration, messages will also allow users to have a better messaging experience by enabling users to edit sent messages and recover recently deleted messages.

New Application: Freeform

Apple is introducing a collaboration application called Freeform during the iPadOS 16 updates. With this application, you can view, share, and collaborate all in one location without worrying about layouts or page sizes. Coming to iPadOS 16 later this year, Freeform will permit users to view others’ contributions as they add content or make edits while enjoying a real-time collaboration space by starting FaceTime sessions and getting updates from others on Messages.

New Application: Weather

In the new update, the long-awaited weather app is being added to the iPad. Users may access essential weather information with only a swipe or browse maps to check precipitation, air quality, and temperature. Users will also receive notifications when a severe weather alert is issued in their location and monitor the air quality using a colour-coded scale.

Updates to ‘Live text’ and ‘Visual look up.’

Using Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Live Text identifies text in photos. This functionality has been extended to videos, allowing the reader to interact with stopped video frames. Users can now use this feature to convert currencies, translate different languages, or copy the text in a live video!

Updates to Safari & Mail

Shared Tab Groups allow users to collaborate on a set of tabs with friends and see updates instantly while they work together, share tabs and bookmarks, and start a conversation right from Safari.

Passkeys, a quicker and safer sign-in technique meant to replace passwords on the web and in applications, make browsing in Safari even more secure. Passkeys are stored on the iPad and are unique to the sites they were created for. Hackers can’t leak passkeys or fool users into providing them since they’re special digital keys that stay on the device and are never saved on a web server.

Mail introduces new smart tools; some are options to cancel the delivery of a message before it reaches a recipient’s inbox, schedule emails to be sent at the perfect moment and more.

New Feature: Powerful Multitasking

Stage Manager is a brand-new multitasking experience that organises programmes and windows for you, making switching between jobs a breeze. Users may now construct overlapping windows of various sizes in a single view, drag and drop windows from the side, or start applications from the Dock to build groups of apps for quicker, more flexible multitasking on the iPad for the first time.

Final Conclusion

These are the most significant updates coming to the new iPadOS 16. These changes will positively impact the user experience of iPads because additional features for multitasking were much needed, which now have been implemented to the iPadOS.

Apple iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro Rumours

Often, major tech releases are spoiled by endless leaks and rumours prior to their official introduction. Sometimes, this works well for the brand, and other times, it is chaotic. In a very recent leak, details of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro Max have been revealed.

Apple usually includes four variants in its high-end lineup – iPhone Mini, iPhone, iPhone Pro, and iPhone Pro Max. We could witness a change in this year’s dropout. Apple can drop the iPhone Mini, and the gap between the Pro and non-Pro models can be widened. The two models can likely have a 6.1 and 6.7-inch screen.

One of the exciting aspects of the leak is that it suggests that the two phones are rumoured to switch to a punch-hole and pill design. The two iPhone variants will also see a thicker camera bump due to the upgraded sensor.

Talking about the processor, the regular iPhone 14 models are expected to retain the same A15 Bionic chipset from the iPhone 13, but the Pro models can see a boosted chipset that does not belong to the A-family. To know more about the processor, you will have to be updated with our articles since Apple can talk about the new chipset at the WWDC event today.

iPhone 14 is expected to run on iOS 16 and can come with iOS 16.1 pre-installed. The software would be receiving software updates for many years to come. TrendForce also reports that the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro will receive a massive 50% increase in RAM compared to their previous models. Based on this, Apple can market the product as having the ‘pro-level performance’ at an affordable price.

This year’s lineup could support satellite communications for emergency communications. This will allow the users to reach out for help in no-service zones if any accident occurs.

Apple has not confirmed the release date; however, the company has a habit of releasing its lineup during the fall. It typically reveals the smartphones during an event that takes place in September. We can expect the same for this one too.
