How To Speed Up Your Old-Slow Android Smartphone?

The 21st century has witnessed rapid growth in technology, and day-by-day the technology is moving faster towards its peak. Almost every human being wants to stay on the same page with the technology, but we can not afford to buy every other newly launched gadget. Although some of us can afford it, they should not go for it as it’ll add tons of e-waste to the earth, and we guys haven’t figured out another planet to live on where we can stay safe and sound.

So, finding solutions on how to use the gadgets for the long term is the wisest thing we can do to save our planet, and being the most bought gadget in the world, Android smartphones have topped our list. Whatever range of smartphone you purchase, be it a premium, mid-range or an entry-level, after 8-9 months of usage, it’ll turn slow and sluggish, and that’s the reason we’ve come up with a few tips on how to speed up your old-slow Android Smartphone.

Stay Up To Date

The latest version of software update always brings bug fixes and comes with lots of general improvements. Your smartphone will notify you every time the system gets a newer version of Android as it tends to happen Over The Air, and even if somehow you missed the notification, you can always check for it by visiting Settings > About device > Software update > Check for updates. Along with the software update, make sure you’ve updated all the apps; if not, then visit the play store and do it now.

Prefer Light or Web Apps

A number of social media apps, including the major ones like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, offer full-fledged apps along with hundreds of features, but how many of these features mean to you. If you use these apps to the fullest, then it’s cool to have full-fledged versions of them, but if you don’t, then prefer using their lighter versions or mobile web versions as it’ll save your storage space and help your device act faster. Also, make sure you’re downloading all the apps from the play store and not from any third-party app store, as it’s not a recommended option from experts.

Remove Home Screen Widgets & Live Wallpaper

Home screen Widgets and Live wallpapers are cool to have, but they are one of the leading causes to slow down your smartphone. If Home Widgets are essential for you, keep them but ensure they’re within a precise limit, and if you wish to remove some of the non-essentials, touch and hold the widget you want to remove, and then tap Remove from Home. The less cluttering on the home screen will always improve your smartphone’s performance. Also, remove your Live Wallpaper and consider replacing it with a good static image, as Live Wallpaper kills your battery in a short span by displaying bright images and it also demands constant action from your phone’s processor.

Clear The Cached Data

Whatever you do on your smartphone leaves its trace behind, and all these actions sum up as a cache and take up quite a lot of space in the RAM. Clearing these unwanted traces or cache will sometimes boost the smartphone a little as it removes additional space from the RAM and increases the performance bar. If you want to clear the cache, go to Settings > Storage > Cache, and if you want to clear one particular app’s cache, head into Settings > Apps > All tab, select the individual app and choose Clear cache.

Uninstall & Disable Non-Essential Apps

We all have at least five apps that we only use once a year and a few apps that we only use once a month, but all these apps use some amount of memory and eat into system resources, limiting the smartphone’s actual speed. So, it’s better to uninstall them or at least disable them for a good time. Head to Settings > Apps > All Tabs, take a look at all the non-essential apps and uninstall them or disable them for a long time. You can always follow the same route to enable them whenever you need them.

Disable Animations

Animations and snappy transitions are good to please your eyes, but every cool feature decreases the performance of your device, and in the case of animations, the phone claims a lot of resources to make the UI look fluid. So, reducing or turning off the animation is one of the best ways to speed up your smartphone as it makes the UI look enormously better and helps to increase the processing power a little. To disable animations, head to Settings > About Phone and tap the build number 7 times. It’ll take you a developer option on your device; from here, you can disable or reduce or adjust the Window animation scale.

Reset The Device

The final and one of the most favourite options to bring back your smartphone to new life is the factory reset. Though walking on this route is a drastic move, it’ll solve many issues and help your device perform better. There are two ways to reset your smartphone; the first way is to head to Settings and click on the factory reset option, this one is called soft reset, and another is a hard reset that will deep clean your device. To hard reset, press the Power and Volume Down buttons together to get into the recovery mode and hard reset the device to speed up your old smartphone.

The upcoming pad from Realme has appeared on a dedicated Flipkart webpage, which confirms its availability. It also reveals the design, dimensions, and display features of the upcoming Realme Pad alongside a few key specifications. Though, the company hasn’t revealed any details about the front and back design.

The Realme Pad will have two 8MP cameras, one at the back and one in the front. The 6.9mm thick pad will sport an impressive razor-thin bezel and wide display. The upcoming pad from Realme might have a USB-C port on one side and a headphone jack or a slot for a stylus on the other side.

The company has posted a video on their official Realme India YouTube channel, which shows the pad in gold colour, with a rear camera enclosed by a golden ring placed on the top corner and a Realme logo enchased on one of the bottom corners.

The Realme Pad is tipped to be powered by MediaTek Helio G80 chipset and Android 11 operating system. The leaked renders also suggest it might feature a power button, two speakers, a volume rocker and a SIM tray on the sides. The previous leaks mentioned the upcoming pad might come in two colour options, Gold and Grey.

The ultra-slim pad is said to feature 6GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage along with a 7,100 mAh battery. The device is tipped to come with a microSD card slot and a USB Type-C port for charging. The company will launch the device on September 9 at 12:30 PM.

iOS Users Can Now Transfer Their WhatsApp Chat History To Samsung Devices

People were and still are fascinated about buying an iPhone one day, and with more and more EMI options and discounts, the dream of getting an iPhone has become an easy ride now. However, at the same time, there are a considerable number of people who are moving from iPhones/iPads to Androids, or particularly to Samsung smartphones, and they’ve their reasons which we’re not going to discuss here.

If you’re one of those people who want to shift their primary device from iOS to Samsung but are worried about how to transfer your WhatsApp account information, profile photo, individual chats, group chats, and settings, then calm down, WhatsApp has unveiled plans in a blog post to support moving chat history from iOS to Samsung devices running Android 10 or 11, but you can only migrate your details during the initial setup of your new Samsung device.

WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging apps worldwide, and for the very first time, the Facebook-owned company has offered an option to transfer chats from one device to another even if they’re based on diverse operating systems. All the details you need to transfer WhatsApp chat history from iPhone to Samsung are here. According to WhatsApp, the transfer feature will soon be available for more Android devices.

The Flip That You Can Fold In Your Pocket

The future is bend. Like in Automobiles future is electric, the same way in the tech world future is screens that can bend, rotate, and remain submerged in water. Flip phones have a nostalgia attached to them ever since Moto Razr was launched and again when Motorola launched its Razr Flip, but before that, Samsung has been axing its saw and had already dropped Fold1 and Fold2 along with Flip1 and Flip2.

And now it’s time to meet Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 5G, while the Z Fold3 is around the corner. The new flip phone is not heavily updated, but it has a unique and wonderful charm to grab attention. When it’s flattened, it looks like a regular smartphone, but when flipped, it feels like you’re having one of the most incredible devices in your hands.

The new flip phone from Samsung comes in two colours (Phantom Black and Cream) and two variants. The 8GB/128GB variant is priced at ₹84,999, while the 8GB/256GB variant is priced at ₹88,999. The Galaxy Z Flip 3 has the same processor as the Galaxy S21, and clearly, it’s the first foldable phone everyone wants to buy, including Alia Bhatt, as it doesn’t compromise on performance, durability, and most of all, price.

When it comes to competition, only Motorola Razr lies in this category, but it’s a year-old phone now. I spent most of my time with the Z Flip 3 while running errands, while driving, while trekking, and I realised it just occupies a very little space in your pocket and helps you to move quicker. The Z Flip3 isn’t necessarily a sure bet, it has flaws too, but this new foldable smartphone from Samsung has the potential to be the most normal foldable smartphone available.

Design

The phone arrives in a small box with minimal accessories and doesn’t look different from its predecessors, but it has an outer display with useful features this time. When unfolded, it boasts a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED Infinity Flex display with an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate, and when folded, it sports Super AMOLED 1.9-inches. The hinge is more flexible now, and there’s less of a gap between sides when it’s closed, which makes the phone more handsome than ever.

The back of the Z Flip 3 is covered in Gorilla Glass Victus, while a flexible plastic display protects the inside screen. On the right side, there is a lock button with a fingerprint sensor and a volume rocker over it, and on the left side, there is a SIM slot. Sadly, the phone doesn’t have any micoSD slot, so you have to be dependable on the internal storage, but for the very first time, Samsung has secured its foldable phone with an IPX8 rating for water resistance.

Display

The third-generation Z Flip3 has a 6.7-inch tall, 1080 pixel wide OLED display. It has been improved compared to its predecessors but not to the extent to blow your mind. It looks and feels just as lovely as Samsung’s other OLED screens and bright enough for outdoor expenditure. It has comparable visuals to other flagship Full HD displays as it arrives with fast touch response, deep blacks, and smooth scrolling.

The display has a new factory-installed screen protector made from a more rigid material to avoid dents or scratches. The exterior display of the Z Flip3 is four times bigger than the original Z Flip’s tiny outer screen and allows you to do a lot of stuff with it, like checking selfie previews, setting timers and many more.

Camera

The camera hardware on the Galaxy Z Flip3 didn’t upgrade, it remains the same as its predecessor. It has wide and ultrawide cameras on the cover, and a hole-punch selfie camera is on the main display. The camera setup in the Z Flip3 is enough to handle casual photography, but you can get the same camera setup in any other smartphone, which will cost you about half-price of Z Flip3.

The image quality looks great in bright lighting, and you’ll get addicted to the ultra-wide-angle camera. The camera provides impressive outcomes even during low light sessions and dark hours, but overall image quality stays below compared to S21 and S21 Ultra’s image quality.

Performance

The Galaxy Flip3 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor and 8GB of RAM, the same as the Galaxy S21, and it runs on Android 11 with the company’s One UI 3.1 skin on top. The flip phone offers an impressive performance throughout the tasks, whether you’re playing games or watching videos.

The tiny 3,300-mAh batteries are the only significant problem in this phone as it only provides between four and five hours of screentime. Fortunately, the phone supports 15-watt fast charging along with wireless and reverse wireless charging options, so there’s no need to worry about Z Flip 3’s stamina.

Final Verdict

Samsung Z flip3 5G is a device that folds performance, style and a novelty factor which otherwise regular boring clamshell phones don’t offer. If this is what you are looking for, then this could be the one which would fit perfectly in your ‘pocket’.

Xiaomi Officially Announced Its Electric Vehicle Business Unit, Xiaomi EV Inc.

Chinese tech giant Xiaomi, known for making affordable smartphones, has officially registered its electric vehicle business and announced its new company, Xiaomi EV Inc. The smartphone giant has completed formal procedures and said the division had entered a substantial development phase in producing its first EV car.

The electric vehicle division of Xiaomi was set up with a registered capital of 10 billion yuan (roughly $1.55 billion), and Xiaomi Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Lei Jun will lead the new business unit. The confirmation about Xiaomi’s EV division comes after the smartphone giant acquired Beijing-based self-driving technology start-up DeepMotion for $ 77.4 million.

The company has already hired over 300 new employees for its electric vehicle enterprise and plans to spend more than $1.5 billion on the electric vehicle business unit in the next ten years. The company hasn’t revealed much about its new electric vehicle unit but has plans to expand further in the EV business.

On the lines with Xiaomi, few other companies wish to enter the electric vehicle business, and the list includes prominent companies such as Apple, Huawei, Baidu and others. According to tipsters and industry experts, Xiaomi might launch a full-fledged EV car in the future or provide hardware and software solutions to the big automakers.

Xiaomi announced its electric vehicle unit when its core business is at its peak. The smartphone making company reported record revenue in its Q2 and pulled behind its local rival, Huawei. The smartphone division of Xiaomi is now the world’s second most profitable company after the South Korean tech giant, Samsung.

The electric vehicle team of Xiami has conducted a massive amount of user research in the last five months and working on its further plans. Currently, Tesla is a household name for electric vehicles, and if Xiaomi enters a full-fledged electric car-making business and offers their automobiles at a reasonable price like their smartphones, then in the next few years, we could see Xiiami topping the EV making list.

Amazon Alexa Gets New Adaptive Volume Feature To Respond Louder When It’s Noisy

Have you ever got in a situation where your one of the most trustful smart home gadget Amazon Alexa failed to understand your commands or respond loudly, due to a noisy environment? Yes, we all have been through that because most of us place Alexa in our kitchen or living room where most of the loud things like dishwashing, people talking, music playing on another device happen.

Earlier, when we were in a noisy environment, we used to shout loud or repeat the commands to Alexa, but soon this frustration will vanish as Amazon is working on a feature called Adaptive Volume, which will detect if you’re in a noisy environment and help Alexa to respond louder. The adaptive volume feature will volume up according to surrounding noise and help you hear more clearly.

The feature is currently available for United States customers, and they can turn it on by saying, Alexa, turn on the adaptive volume. The feature will be soon roll out to the rest of the countries. It’s not the first time a smart home gadget is responding based on the environment. Google’s smart speaker, Nest Audio already has a feature called Ambient IQ that allows it to react and respond according to surrounding volume.

However, Alexa already has an opposite direction feature to the adaptive volume called whisper mode, where Alexa whispers its response if users talk to it quietly. Alexa users can adjust the volume depending on what time it is? by adding a set volume response to a custom cycle or making it part of a bedtime routine.

Amazon recently announced the availability of India’s first celebrity voice feature on Alexa, where users can choose the voice of Amitabh Bachchan for a response instead of Alexa. Sadly, the celebrity voice feature is not available for free; users will have to pay Rs 149 for one year to listen to responses in the voice of Amitabh Bachchan.

Sony’s Revised PlayStation 5 Model Weighs Less & Features Smaller Heatsink

Sony recently introduced a revised and lighter model of the PlayStation 5 that features some notable changes. The mini-refresh of the PlayStation 5 is easy to carry around and features a considerably smaller heatsink along with an easier-to-use stand screw.

YouTuber Austin Evans noticed the new changes when he ordered a lighter model from Japan, where the revised model is available for sale in stores. The newer and lighter PlayStation 5 model is also available for sale in Australia and some parts of the United States.

Evans ordered it for his video, and upon tearing it apart, he noticed minor changes, including a new screw for the stand and tweaked connections to the WiFi chip. He compared the revised PlayStation 5 with the existing model and realised there’s much more to explore in the new model.

The YouTuber noticed the new console’s fan sounds different than the existing PlayStation 5 model while playing the same game, and the aluminium and copper heatsink is now 300g lighter. The heatsink maintains and draws the heat away, which means a larger heatsink is always a better option.

However, Sony tried something different and shifted to a lighter heatsink which substantially pushes more air. The newly developed heatsink components are more affordable, but he noticed they are running at 3 to 5 degrees Celsius hotter than the original model.

The company hasn’t mentioned why it has come up with a revised model, but we’re assuming it is all related to cost-cutting as they’ve learned a few lessons after launching an original PlayStation 5, and now they know well about the cooling and other components and how they can use cheaper parts to make it more affordable.

Realme India is all geared up to launch the first-ever MediaTek Dimensity 810 powered 5G phone soon. The company announced the collaboration with MediaTek via Twitter, where they mentioned that they are bringing the world’s first MediaTek Dimensity 810 5G processor in India.

Realme has previously launched a number of MediaTek 5G processors in India including MediaTek Dimensity 800U, MediaTek Dimensity 700 and MediaTek Dimensity 1200 with their smartphones Realme X7 5G, Realme 8 5G and Realme X7 Max 5G respectively.

The company is launching a new smartphone with the latest MediaTek processor and the upcoming smartphone is claimed to provide an all-round experience with faster performance, dual 5G stand-by, and a longer battery. The name of the model is not revealed yet but it is expected to be the Realme 8s.

The upcoming smartphone from Realme with MediaTek Dimensity 810 5G chipset is rumoured to feature a 6.5-inch display with a 90Hz refresh rate. The upcoming smartphone is expected to have up to 8GB of RAM and a maximum of 256GB onboard storage alongside a 5,000 mAh battery with 33W fast charging.

The smartphone is tipped to feature a triple rear camera setup with a 64-megapixel primary sensor and a 16-megapixel selfie camera sensor. The leaked images of the smartphone suggest that the phone will have a gradient back finish and a rectangular-shaped rear camera module, similar to the existing Realme 8-series phones.
