Motul India has officially launched IPONE in the Indian market, introducing the French motorcycle lubricant brand’s performance-focused and lifestyle-oriented identity to a new generation of riders. Positioned as a premium motorcycle oil brand inspired by Japanese riding culture and manga aesthetics, IPONE aims to move beyond the traditional image of engine oils and appeal to younger enthusiasts who associate motorcycling with individuality, adventure, and performance.
Backed by Motul India, the launch comes at a time when India’s premium two-wheeler segment continues to grow rapidly, with riders increasingly spending on touring, off-roading, riding gear, and high-performance motorcycles. Motul says the IPONE range has been designed specifically to align with this shift in consumer behaviour.
One of the more distinctive aspects of the IPONE lineup is its martial-arts-inspired product structure. Borrowing from the progression system of judo belts, the range is divided into four tiers based on riding intensity and usage.
The flagship Black Belt Racing Range, led by the Shogun lubricant, focuses on maximum protection and performance-oriented riding, while the Blue Belt Sport Range features fully synthetic oils developed for spirited road and touring use. The Green Belt Advanced Range targets everyday riders with semi-synthetic formulations, and the Yellow Belt Standard Range serves as the brand’s more accessible offering.
Speaking at the launch, Nagendra Pai, CEO of Motul India & South Asia, noted that younger riders are increasingly looking for premium and performance-led experiences, especially within the adventure and off-road motorcycling space.
IPONE will initially launch across six core and fourteen key Indian markets, supported heavily through digital-led campaigns and enthusiast-focused engagement.
