Mumbai’s pop culture fandom came alive in full force as the 2026 edition of Comic Con India concluded with a record-breaking footfall of over 55,000 visitors at the Jio World Convention Centre across May 9 and 10. Presented by Maruti Suzuki Arena and powered by Crunchyroll, the event transformed the venue into a vibrant celebration of comics, anime, gaming, cosplay, and fandom culture.
Fans from across the country descended upon Mumbai for the two-day spectacle, many arriving in elaborate cosplay costumes, creating a carnival-like atmosphere throughout the convention. Packed gaming zones, merchandise stalls, artist alleys, and live stage performances kept attendees engaged across both days.
Akshat Rathee, Co-Founder and Managing Director of NODWIN Gaming, highlighted Mumbai’s unique ability to embrace shared entertainment experiences, noting the diverse participation from college students, working professionals, creators, and fandom communities. Meanwhile, Shefali Johnson, CEO of Comic Con India, described Mumbai as the ideal finale destination for the Comic Con season due to its deep connection with storytelling and fandom culture.

This year’s event featured an impressive international lineup, including acclaimed comic artist Ramón K. Pérez, known for his work on The Amazing Spider-Man, alongside anime personalities Taito Ban and Atsushi Kaneko from Solo Leveling. Legendary anime singer Hiroshi Kitadani delivered a live performance, while DJ Kazu energised fans with anime-themed music sets.
The convention also spotlighted India’s growing creator economy, featuring over 90 exhibitors, independent artists, publishers, and creators. With immersive experiences, exclusive merchandise launches, and packed panel discussions, Mumbai Comic Con 2026 reinforced its position as one of India’s biggest and most influential pop culture events.
